I started out with an Explorer Range Bag, but recently purchased an Explorer Range Backpack. I had the GPS backpack, but found the foam block to be limiting. The Explorer Range Backpack has moveable dividers and holds more.

I use a TSA style cable lock through the lockable zippers.

I use a Bagmaster Pro-Shooter's Bag Large Delux. Its pricey, but I like it.

I have the Midway bag and it has served me well. Schlep a ton of crap in it too.

A friend has the GPS bag but has concerns about the thinness of the shoulder straps. No issues yet after about four months; time will tell.. Gotta admit that the slide out handgun rack is pretty slick.

I have the Midway comp range bag, but it's just too damn big to use. Sure I can load everything I want into it, but then it weighs around 55 lbs with the guns and ammo in there (which I've weighed), so it's a PITA to carry and transport.

These days I'm cheap and lazy, and use 2 smaller bags. I use a laptop bag that I found at work for my pistols and misc rsnge stuff, since it has 3 separate padded compartments with a lockable zipper (designed specially for a padlock) on the main compartment, so it's very easy to carry on my shoulder.

Then for my ammo, I have a SOE 'tool bag' that's about the same size as the LAPG bailout bag, but way more sturdy and can hold a ton more weight easily. It's easier on my shoulder to carry and walk around with a lighter & smaller shoulder bag (the laptop bag) and then carry all my ammo in a separate small carry bag.

Home Depot and Lowes have decent bags for handguns. Not sure if they lock. I use them in addition to my other gun bags.

Between the two listed I would go with the Midway bag. I don't have one, but have seen quite a few at USPSA matches. Well built.

I also drive a pickup to matches. I use the "soft bags" to carry ammo, ears, eyes & etc. I use a cabled hard case to store my guns and magazines. More secure than the bags.

                    good luck!!

However, you state that one of your requirements is the ability to lock the bag. If that is for legal transportation, I don't think you can do that effectively with the Midway bag. You could check for past threads since this has been discussed.

Can't comment on the other bags mentioned.

The Midway Competition bag is a four star best bang for the buck item. Very rugged, well organized. I have five or six pistols living in mine at any one time.

Personally I don't want anything that screams "gun".
