Terrible Vendor Experience- Brownells

Larry,
Don't be too hard on Brownells. I'm most sure they're working late nights getting orders made and prepared to ship.
At my work place we have employees seek help in insuring Fed Ex will ship everything from business documents to personal parcels in time domestically and internationally. Even Fed Ex can't guarantee anything/promises at this time now.
For now just relax and re-check the website later on. I'm sure they'll get it shipped in due time. They've never let me down. Usually you should get an e-mail telling you your order has shipped.
On another note......You live in California and you ordered large capacity mags???
You do realize that is a no no here in Cali. That in itself may have caused a delay in your order.
Good luck and have a wonderful holiday.

While the rep should have given you a straight answer, Brownells hasn't been timely with their shipments for the last 6 weeks or so as they're in the middle of moving from their old warehouse to a new larger facility. Having inventory in two locations in addition to the added order volume around the holidays has really slowed them down.
Last order I placed they did have a notice up on their webpage regarding the warehouse move and that it would take longer than usual to fulfill your order because of the relocation. A couple orders I've placed recently have gone from the typical 1-2 days to 5-7 days between order and shipping.Comment

I am a former life long SoCal resident now residing in Southern Nevada. I have had a similar experience on other items with Brownells back during the summer, for Brownells (from my perspective), 2 Strikes and Brownells is out. Will never consider Brownells for anything under any circumstances.Comment

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Sounds like you're not happy... going somewhere else in the future is your choice.
Brownells did lose one package for me about 7 weeks ago during their move-- I received a tracking number but it never left their facility or was scanned. After 3 days of sitting without any pickup notification I called and asked about it; they couldn't find it and the rep overnighted a duplicate order to me at no extra charge so I could have the parts for the weekend.
I'll continue to buy from them as they've always treated me right even on long lead special order parts and I'll also keep enjoying some pretty attractive 03 FFL discounts.
If you want real irritation try being strung along by a manufacturer for almost 2 years of various reasons why their delivery estimate keeps slipping and you have a non-refundable deposit placed... I've been there.Last edited by Kiba; 12-19-2014, 9:58 AM.Comment

Brownells shipping right now is awful three weeks has been par for my last 2 orders. They recently went through a move and have not worked out the kinks. Op what promise did they not keep? Sometimes s..t happens and we don't get what we want, mistakes happen.Comment

Yes, that sounds incredibly irritating. Sorry to hear about your bad experience.
At the end of the day, it is all about keeping promises and commitments, if individuals as well as merchants can't do that, what's left?

Each day this week, they promised the shipment would go out. That did not happen. Their website stated "in stock"... obviously inaccurate.
I will be going to another site/store, will wind up paying more, but will get what I need. Thanks...

Thanks for your perspective... I am old school, promises and commitments whether in business, personal life, politics or whatever is what is important. Not keeping promises and commitments is what erodes confidence whether in business, or a family situation... does not matter. I am unwilling to lower that standard.

First off Brownells is normally reliable but spring of this year then moved their entire warehouse to a newer, much larger and modernized warehouse. Unfortunately their newer better warehouse tracking system has serious bugs and when it goes haywire it really goes haywire, as seen with the OP.
(I know all this because a classmate of mine works for them)
BUT
Brownells primarily caters to the Gun Industry and while they will sell to the public they do prioritize sales to FFLs as that is the core of their business. So while they might have had those magazines in stock unfortunately with orders from FFLs constantly changing what was in stock has now been allocated to the FFLs and whatever is left over goes to the public, if anything is left over. This of course is made worst when you have brand new inventory tracking system that occasionally does not track.
If you want a company that deals more with the public then go to MidwayUSA but everyone pretty much knows during the Holiday season it is tough to find stuff anyways.Comment
