It's when there isn't a cop around that you need a CCW, which is almost always. The police rarely stop a crime in progress. Generally clean up the mess and go find and hook up the perpetrators.

Personally, and no offense, if people are going to shoot at me, I'd like the ability to fire back and not die helplessly. I can deal with any legal fallout later, death is kinda permanent.
I concur completely, I guess we have different factors we are using to determine what is proper and what isn't. I'm just not ready for CCW, but if you see me getting robbed on the street, please do intervene, probably hook you up with a case of ammo for it, and ask you what model is that (hopefully it's not a Glock) =)

I also can go from .40, to 9mm to .357, and fix it up like it's a Honda Civic of the Year....I take dumps with it, showers, hang out with it in the rain and dance, things I cannot do with my 1911... Therefore it has its purpose.. It also makes a good paper weight for my DROS papers..
So you would say its your #1?

I agree. Though occasionally he does, yet even his rare serious posts/threads shortly lead to bickering, flames and dog piles anyway.

I'm not complaining, does anyone else get a little excited when you see a new SCE thread pop up on the forum?

That's a tough one, but yes it's my main HD for two reasons. I don't really care if it get scratch, broken, or even chewed as it can be easily replace. Second it has low failure rates, and it's a .40 cal.

But from my #1, #1 which I don't have, but will next year, would be a Colt Lawman/Trooper .357 6" barrel as it never fails, and packs a punch... Everybody got different strokes, and pokes, I respect all. Revolvers are the way to go, we have gone materialistic, and forgot about the standard. While Glock is my preferred handgun platform (arguably; 1911 edges them out sometimes).

My $500 CMP Garand was probably the best firearms purchase I've ever made.

I'm highly considering the Glock 22 or 23 chambered in .40 cal fashion. You see them on sale for around $500ish OTD, not a bad deal. I have a G30 which I'm completely comfortable with.

I bought mine so I can treasure/safe everything else. Some dude stated he had 4 Rugers, and 1 Glock, and doesn't know why, I'm sure it's the same reason. They are easy to replace (Gen 4 Puns excluded).

Go for it, Glock 22 gen3 was my first handgun.... 18,000+ rounds later, still have it and have had 6 failures to feed/eject ever.

a few thousand of that were .357sig rounds, via Glock 31 barrel swap.

don't like .40, you can always convert it or sell.

...or maybe expand your horizons and try something else. experience the joy of shooting a 1911 for the first time? or a SIG P220? or CZ75? maybe an M&P9?
etc. Plenty of great handguns out there.

50 years is a bit of an exaggeration. While the Glock company has been around since the early 60's they made curtain rods and knives. Did not start gun manufacturing until the early 80's. No they were not the first ones with a polymer frame handgun. I believe H&K has that claim with the VP70.

Folks are being truly ridiculous. There's way too much "for the price" caveats that go on when talking about Glocks. If it's going to be the pistol that you will use for personal defense in a life or death situation, I don't give a rats *** about $500 or $2000--it's going to be the gun I know and trust. If that's a Glock for you, so be it. Use what you feel is the best gun for you. Price should not even be an issue unless it is simply for plinking.

Same as Hi-Point, Sig, Colt's, Kimbers, Wesson, S&W, Kahr, along with thousand of other brands. If the DROS wasn't so much, I rather have 4-5 Hi Points in 9mm than one Glock, I'll hide them in every room, so if I ever get robbed, I'll give them "bands" and "bling", and the the "BOOM". I guess I already failed if they got my bands and bling, LOL.... I'll even give them one handgun with no ammo in the main room because I'm so scared, and surprise them with #2,#3,#4, and #5 which is chambered and good to go.. There is a Hi Point thread, some day I can officially join it =)
