Any rags or towels in the bag? Something is putting humidity in there. You might have "toxic sweat" like my brother who corrodes and destroys every wrist watch he wears. Best to wipe them with a silicone cloth or something and if possible, drop them in a plastic bag before you store them. That will stop the rust.

Timely comment, Cali has had about a half years rain in the last two weeks. The whole state is floating away.....

You might try coating them in Renaissance wax.

There are reviews of it being used on blued guns. I bought it for tools. So far I have used it on the cold rolled steel rails for my CNC plasma machine. I cleaned the steel with lacquer thinner and then rubbed it in and buffed it out. There is no surface rust after being in the shed, but where the rain dripped through the roof (onto the horizontal surface) and onto the steel, it rusted.

I would not use lacquer thinner on your mags, but maybe some water based cleaner and water, then dry them very well, and wax. This wax is supposed to not change the appearance of the metal.

I keep them in my Midway USA bag. Weirdly enough, at my place by the ocean, there's no rust. When I take the bag with the magazines to my girlfriend's place, where there's A/C, they rust like crazy. I figured it would have been the opposite.

These are blued Sig Sauer magazines and pre-ban Beretta magazines.

My aluminum mags don't rust here on the beach. Nor do my P-mags.

Take down the magazine, spray with Eezox, wipe it clean and leave just a micro-thin layer of coating on the surface, then put the magazine back together.

                            Works like a charm.

Weird, I run my AC 24/7 about 7 months out of the year in AZ an all my stuff stays nice and dry. That said, I wipe down my mags (even my polymer mags) with a silicon cloth. I have never had an issue with rusty mags, and that includes Sig and Beretta.
