    CCW Dianne Feinstein letter

This is the reply I got from her about her ccw permit.***************** Thank you for writing to me about my permit to carry a concealed weapon. I would like to take this opportunity to set the record straight.
I possessed a concealed weapon permit for a short time beginning in 1976. In the mid‑1970s, a terrorist organization ‑‑ the New World Liberation Front ‑‑ carried out two attacks against me and my family. In the first, a bomb was placed outside the window of my daughter's bedroom. It detonated but did not explode. We were lucky: the weather was particularly (and unusually) cold, and the explosive they used didn't explode in below‑freezing temperatures. In the second, they shot out the windows of our beach home. My husband was terminally ill with cancer at the time.

Later, some of the members of the New World Liberation Front were arrested, and the threat abated. At that point, I had the gun -- and several other weapons that were turned into the police -- melted into a cross, which I presented to Pope John Paul II when I visited Rome in 1982. Currently, I do not possess a gun, nor do I have a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

I hope this addresses what you may have heard on the subject. If I can be of additional assistance, please do not hesitate to call my Washington, D.C. staff at (202) 224‑3841.

    Sincerely yours,

    Dianne Feinstein
    United States Senator

Melt down some firearms and turn them into a cross, give it to the Pope. How cute.

How about the firearms that her current security team is using? Seems they are being put to good use.

      Hypocrisy at its finest.

So what she is saying is the gun was good enough for her when a threat was imminent on her family. Now the gun is not good enough for any of us to thwart a threat that may come along at any moment in time. The gun isn't good enough for her because she has constant armed protection around her and doesn't have to handle it for herself any more.

I don't regret burning some bridges. I regret that some people weren't on those bridges when I burnt them!

Lets not forget her personal security detail. Actually, I'm surprised I can't find a recent picture of her with her detail...

So if I turn in guns I can commision the police to melt them into some form of art? Then get that piece of art back to give away as I see fit?

Who needs a gun when you surround yourself with trained professionals who probably have all of the firepower needed? I would gladly give up carry if I had a professional 24 hour a day security detail.

It does show proof that DiFi is not a blood sucking vampire and is only a blood sucking politician.
Seriously tho. I'm surprised she had someone reply to a constituent's letter.
Yes the CCW info is old news for some.

"It detonated but did not explode." what?
"It wasn't a failure of laws," said Amanda Wilcox, who along with her husband, Nick, lobbies for the California chapter of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. "I just don't see how our gun laws could have stopped something like that."

Am I the only one here who thinks her whole story is a crock of crap? I don't believe it for a minute. She's a politician...end of story.

That well thought out response has been sent out many, many times. That I am certain.
Any way to follow up on her story? I'll start searching.

                              Wikipedia

On April 27, 1995, at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on "Terrorism in the United States", Feinstein stated that — in the early 1970s — she applied for, and received, a license to carry a concealed gun after she and her family were threatened and their house physically attacked by a local terrorist group named the New World Liberation Front. As Feinstein stated to the Senate panel:

"I want to just give you a personal anecdote about terrorism, because less than 20 years ago, I was the target of a terrorist group. It was the New World Liberation Front. They blew up power stations and put a bomb at my home when my husband was dying of cancer. And the bomb was set to detonate at two o'clock in the morning, but it was a construction explosive that doesn't detonate when it drops below freezing. It doesn't usually freeze in San Francisco, but on this night, it dropped below freezing, and the bomb didn't detonate. I was very lucky. But, I thought of what might have happened. Later the same group shot out all the windows of my home.
And, I know the sense of helplessness that people feel. I know the urge to arm yourself, because that's what I did. I was trained in firearms. I'd walk to the hospital when my husband was sick. I carried a concealed weapon. I made the determination that if somebody was going to try to take me out, I was going to take them with me.
Now having said all of that, that was a period of time ago, and I've watched through these 20 years as terrorism has increased, both on the far extremist left and the far extremist right in this country, and in particularly in my state - I never thought I would live in a country where we would have to put out a bomb summary every year, but we do, today."[32]
Feinstein claims to have surrendered the permit and revolver to the police in 1982, once the New World Liberation Front was no longer a threat to her.[33][34]
