    Factory gun boxes?

What do you guys do with all those gun boxes that your guns come in?

For me Once I buy a gun, I put the gun in the safe and the paperwork in a file. So all the boxes just stock up. Glock, Spingfield and others come with nicer plastic boxes that can be used for transport or whatever but s&w come with cheap cardboard boxes. So do you guys toss the boxes, keep them or what?

I keep the plastic ones that I could use. the cardboard ones I keep till I am sure the firearm is working properly then throw them away.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Unless it's for an expensive firearm that will hold it's value or is already collectable they get tossed. Sorry Remingtons, AR'S and Glocks will never reach this status.

Fill them with sand and use them for barricades.

Thats what the guys used to do with the cardboard Colt boxes in the 50's to 80's now look at what value the cardboard Colt boxes sell for now, and how much more your Colt is worth with the original numbered box, I would keep any gun box that came with my guns, doesn't hurt to keep and if you decide to sell, you have the original box with your gun. Can only hurt the value without the original box -not help....just saying...

You should keep the original factory box, papers, tools, locks, etc. the gun came with. You'll never know how much they will worth.

A perfect example is older S&W blue, gold & red boxes. Hundreds of dollars!

                    Keep them!

Over on the Colt forum in the Python section, the box and it's (other than the revolver itself) contents are considered quite valuable to the point of several hundred bucks.
One fellow in particular who operates out of Sparta, TN sells fake Colt boxes and contents on gunbroker, he has been outed many times on the Colt forum so beware of what you're buying if you're in the market for one.
Sad to say that I did toss out the cardboard box that my Python came in.

Pack the orig papers and stuff in the box and stack on the closet shelf.

If I decide to sell later the box and papers add a few bucks to the price and the collectors prefer to have all the orig stuff.

I threw two cardboard cases away, but not anymore. I keep them all now.
