With that, I'd say stick with the factory stock! I reinstalled my factory stock and am very happy with it.

Todays big 5's black friday early bird special ad has the mossberg 500 combo in 12 or 20 gauge with vent rib for $295 pretty good deal in my opinion for a lower price starter set. I have 3 but one more can't hurt. I'm going to take a look at that entry level Maverick made by mossberg over under and see what the price is for black friday.

I agree that self loaders are more desirable and have more applications than pumps or o/u .

That said there are a few competition events that will require extended mag tubes and side saddle carriers. .

I would suggest you see if the model your planning on has these accessories available .
The Knob Creek Jungle Walk course was won 2 years straight by a " Tennessee man shooting a Remington 1187. It was modified only to the extent mentioned above.

I never known a problem with Big 5 ,as long as you know what you want .

Please don't spend your money with big 5. They aren't pro 2a by any means and their sales people are ignorant about guns, Walmart likely has a better sporting goods staff.

They hid all semi auto 22s in the back of the store after sandy hook and proceeded to gouge excessively on ammo in the resulting ammo crisis. They had 1k rounds of 223 selling for $799 long after other retailers had adjusted prices back to semi-normal levels of 3-400.

While big 5 does not make the gun, they are responsible for the final QA before the customer takes it home.

My brother used to work at Bolsa Gunsmithing and they did repair work fro Big 5. Big 5, not being a gun dealer primarily, will take the gun back where many gun shops will just refer you to the manufacturer for warranty work.

I think the Escort Shotguns are distributed by Legacy Sports. I just sent my ISSC .22 pistol back to them on Tuesday and on Wednesday got an email that it was being shipped back already. Now to see if they really fixed it on the same day they got it....it was not extracting and I cleaned it and lubed and tried and tried.

Well I got a call from my wife at 6am this morning reminding me that I haven't updated the adress on my drivers licence yet so later on in the morning i do a little research and find out a current utility bill with my name and address is good according to the attorney general website. So I run down there, big 5 doesn't accept that. But he did inform me my state issued license for my job would work. But that is registered to a p.o. Box 90 miles away from me. oh the joys of procrastinating. So now I have to find out my next day off so I can go to the dmv. I am getting a shot gun by the end of the yer tho!

You should have just let your wife buy it and then you could borrow her shotgun anytime you wanted.

Every Ruger 10/22 I've ever owned was from Big5. As another poster said, they don't make the guns, they just sale them. Do the research for the brand and model etc on your own, then grab it if its a deal.

She has the same problem as me. Hopefully they will take government issued temporary paper id on Monday.

I just put a Mossberg 500 combo from Big 5 into jail on Friday. $344 out the door. Looking forward to shooting it!
It was just an old plywood boat, with a '75 Johnson, with electric choke. A young boy, two hands on the wheel, I can't replace the way it made me feel.

Hatsan Escort is the same as the Weatherby SA-459. Solid semi-auto, but stick with full-power loads for the first few hundred. Once broken in, anything should be good through it. Hate the ghost ring sights, but a red dot sight to co-witness would make it a very fun toy and extremely formidable defensive gun. I have heard of guys who found the right parts to extend the magazine if desired as well.

I had to have one for a Remington machined to fit mine but now ATI and others make them to fit.
