Are you looking for legitimate personal opinions, or do you just need that extra push of someone else telling you to "go for it"?

Well this is definitely a gun you want to be 100% sure you are in guidelines cause I don't care who you are... if for any reason a cop sees it... you are gonna have some eyebrows raised at you.

Though I've played with a replica metal P90 once... lets just say its a freaking incredible gun. It was so smooth to move around with. I dunno bout the long *** barrel but it was really nice.

        ammo costs a fortune

we can't have the best reasons to own it - huge mags and short bullpup

it's still a blast to shoot.

Exactly. To me, this is what kills it. The two great features of the weapon, 50 round magazines and extremely short length when shouldered, have been denied. I would say put the cash into more lowers... but in the end it's your decision.

its not a must have for me, i like it but its kind of expensive and i don't want to drop that much cash on one if its not worth the cost, plus i never considered the cost of the ammo. i was originally looking into a cx4 storm but was told there was no BB out for it as of yet so i guess i'm just going to have to wait for a while before my next purchase.

I don't understand...can you own this in Ca? How?

I know a guy in TX who carries this as a executive body guard but never thought it could be acquired here.

Yes, you can own a FN PS90 in CA.

However, it needs to be modified to be CA legal.

                    Two methods...
                    1. Install a magazine lock and extend the overall length to greater than 30".
                    2. Fill in the bullpup stock and extend the overall length to greater than 30".

Also, no magazines greater than 10 rounds can be used while in CA.

the horrid things we have to do to them for it to be legal is horible. i hate it i would never do that to such a nice fire arm. but if you want to defintaly make sure you butcher it up and ad on a bunch of BS, so you can have it with out geting in it with the law.

Saw one at the last Cow Palace show. Very slick and ergonomic. The dealer demonstrated how the magazine was fixed to the rifle.
I admit, I'd love to have one.
As for the ammo, FNH recently allowed some company to start producing ammunition, so price should drop, eventually.

Ammo for it RIGHT NOW costs less than a lot of .223 (low of around $19/box to $24/box). So the 'astronomical' cost of ammo should not be a consideration. If you like it, buy one! Just make sure the defilation for CA rules is reversible if you ever leave.

I agree with a few of the other posters here about how all the benefits of the P90 are removed in order to legally get one here in CA.
I've wanted a P90 for quite some time now, but do not want a fixed-mag 10 round semi-auto 30" long one.

The reason the 5.7 cartridge was developed was to maintain penetration while reducing recoil in full-auto. The P90 is short and well balanced yet still has a decent barrel length. And the 50 round magazine capacity is fantastic.

So unless I can get it with 50 round mags, 10" barrel, and full-auto, i'll pass. However Magpul's PDR concept does interest me and I might get one of those if they ever come out. I'm willing to trade full-auto for a semi-auto 5.56 bullpup. And I'll be able to use my existing 30 round AR mags with it.
