please help me find a State to move to

im not sure if this is the place to post this question, this has to do with guns since i feel that ca is no longer free enough for me and my family. im looking at southern oregon to move buy land build a house or remodel one. they seem to have better gun laws. after a little digging around, i found that the state is super liberal up north. i talked to a realtor in the south and he said its been getting more liberal in the south over the years from all the ca liberals moving north. it would be heart braking to leave here build a home/life out there and in 5 years get ca gun laws in oregon.

can you guys help me out?
whats is your experience with south oregon?

if not oregon what is another state to run to for freedom?

i would prefer to live away from heat, i know Arizona has good gun laws but the heat kicks my butt.

thank you guys for the help

    Alaska

    Go to Alaska

I lived there before coming to California. They have a good system of laws. The people are very independent. Plenty of fresh air and things to do outdoors.

They've even got some good surf spots that are never crowded.

Montana or Idaho if you can handle the cold.
The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals.
Well, when there aren't enough criminals,
      one makes them.
One declares so many things to be a crime that it
becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.

I'm in the same situation as you in that I'm tentatively looking for a new place to call home. But there's a lot more to finding a good place to live than gun laws. Climate, jobs, terrain, schools, culture, etc. It would help to know more about the rest of your requirements. Otherwise, Alaska, Nevada and Arizona have good gun laws. I think parts of northern Arizona aren't as hot. But maybe I'm mistaken.

It's also hard because you really need to spend a little time in a place to see if you could actually make a go of it. That takes time and money even if you're only evaluating a place or two. I'm actually trying to see if I could do something with an RV for 3-6 months and go check out places. But again, that's time and money...especially as I don't currently own a RV...and really don't want to.

It's hard to find a good place to live.

We are thinking of moving to Reno/sparks in a couple of years. No income tax is nice. We were planning on renting for a couple of years to decide if we really want to commit to buying a house and such.

What do you do for a living? Just curious.

Stay and fight. Dang, I'm starting to feel lonely. All the public service union retirees are taking their pensions out of state and changing the political landscape in many western states. You won't be escaping, you'll be delaying. Even a friend in Wyoming is concerned, wants to build a wall around Jackson Hole and let it become a California county.

LOL..Just make sure you wife is in agreement, you both have the same goal and are ready to start over again. I like many, feel your concern. Stay and fight? You do what you know is right for you and your family.

                        Oregon will be falling soon.
                        Property tax is high
State income tax is at 10%
                        They are business unfriendly
Portland is growing (just like cali with SF and LA, so will go Oregon with Portland)
It has appearances of niceties but in doing my own research, Oregon was ruled out for more than just guns. Gun laws are friendly now, but it is only a matter of time or the next Sandy Hook

In the future to survive, we will need to get with those of a "like mind". Band together and take over a small town. Close the gates, adopt a mini-government, law enforcement. A good example are The Mormons of Utah. Been preparing for years, all believe the same stuff. Whoopee.

If you win the lottery, buy a small town (water) or an area that can be fortified; we'll go with you.
