For me, the hallmark of any "honest debate" is a dogged fixation on cop bashing, flatulence, deviant sex, and bacon. The OP's right. You just don't get that kind of thing in a "gun discussion" -- especially when you're talking about a controversial gun firing technique.Last edited by Mayor McRifle; 11-21-2014, 5:57 AM.Anchors Aweigh

Never done it. Waists ammo. Not very accurate. Looks like it would be fun with someone else's ammo.Comment

It's a lot of fun with a .22 I can't get my 10/22 to bump fire but I can go through an entire tube on my speed masterComment

It is a waste of ammo,
But so is shooting dirt and pop cans. As long as your having fun in a safe manner have at it.
I've done it more than a few times with friends and yea it's a complete waste of ammo. But the laughs and good time we had doing it was well worth it.Comment

Careful!
Squib is not when the round doesn't fire (FTF), but when it (1) does fire, and (2) there is no powder in the case (or incorrect underpowered amount). When that happens, the bullet will get stuck in the barrel, but the pressure that builds up due to the (now) obstructed barrel can very well be sufficient to cycle the slide/bolt.
If the slide/bolt cycles, that "pulling the trigger again" happens automatically in bump fire scenario.sigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment

While I wasn't bump firing, I once had a person comment on how fast I was pulling the trigger of my rifle. My reply was, "That when he paid for my ammo, he could worry about how fast I shot it".
That's the same way I feel about bump firing...my gun...my ammo...none of your business.Comment

I think it's actually a lot of fun but it's only something I do very rarely. Safety is paramount, you lose a lot of control bumpfiring from the hip like that, especially when your firing hand is basically not on the pistol grip.
I think it becomes immature if bump firing is the primary way someone fires their gun, or they only shoot at dirt and not at targets. There is always somewhat of a novelty factor with firearms but if someone can't get past that and all they do is shoot into the ground as fast as they can and laugh at the recoil, noise, and muzzle flash then they are probably not mature enough to have a gun.Originally posted by RookieShooterOne of the theory is that the hormones they put in the milk.
