My dad is in the UK. He has to have a separate permit for his .22 rifle, one is designated as his hunting gun and the other as his target shooting gun. By law he can not use one for the other.

My mother, who is a shooter is not allowed access to either but does have access to the shotgun safe where her shotgun is.

When he transports the rifles, the bolt has to be carried separately in the car from the gun in the trunk.

I think that's the current state of affairs. It changes, gets more stringent.

Oh, and policeman has to be given access once a year to inspect the storage of guns. Safes have to be bolted to the wall and floor and other such things.

      Much the same in Australia.

Mexico has interesting gun laws, except criminals don't obey them, otherwise the place would be the dream of gun banners.

In the former Soviet republics in the 'stans, owning guns is illegal. Even owning ammunition like 9mm isn't allowed. Too many people complain about how bad they have it in CA, right after they walked into a gun store and bought a gun and started a 10-day wait. In other countries, you're not even allowed to own guns, and the ones that allow gun ownership require you to get a license and police approval before you can even buy a gun. After buying, they have strict restrictions on storage and use. More Americans have to go live in a craphole thirdworld country for a year to really appreciate how good we have it in the US.
and we need to look at all the gun restrictions with other countries and MAKE SURE we NEVER allow ourselves to be in that very same situation

that is why it is SO important to fight every new proposed gun restriction, even the little ones, because that is how they are going to gain the upper hand in restricting our gun ownership...one little law at a time, and, before you know it, we'll be mirroring the very countries the OP started this thread about

It seems Argentina and Guatemala have ok gun laws compared to their neighbors.

I have a Mexican Trejo pistol. It is a conventional semi auto but many were selective fire! It seems at the time they were made full auto in 22lr was not regulated.
I thought Mexico only made "military" calibers illegal for civilians? That's why 1911s chambered in 38 Super were popular there.
