My apologies. It did say pork ribs. However, pork bones are not analogous to human bones. They break differently. That is why they use goats for ballistics tests. Their bones are much closer to those in humans. And again, I am not saying that glasers are the best round. But I am saying, for the third or fourth time, that given the criteria listed in the original post, they are better than JHPs for safety reasons.

As for variations in the goats, they were all the same breed, in good health, and within a few pounds of each other. I would hardly call it "any old goat".

So let's go back to this, then:

All the evidence we have of this supposed test is that short little summary write-up. No photos, no physical evidence. But with all the other testing methods presented here today, there have been photos and physical evidence, and these tests are repeatable. Just about anybody can do one themselves, and anybody can have one done for them (brassfetcher.com).

I really don't think that the Strassboug test even happened, and have never seen any evidence that would convince me that it did.

good point. living on 20 acres without neighbors close by has me forgetting that city dwellers and apartment dwellers have more to worry about re the overpenetration issue. i'd probably worry more about it too if there were young kids around the house or in the area.

I agree with hawk1, a handgun seems a better solution due to maneuverability.

Perhaps a .38 snubbie (big fan of revolvers due to simplicity), a copy of How to own a gun and stay out of jail to better outline the rules of engagement and a restraining order?
Boy I hope that in 5 pages somebody has already shat all over this.
There is no duty to retreat in CA law. Only that the appropriate level of force to stop / neutralize the threat be used. Which leaves a lot of room for legal exposure. Retreating might mitigate that legal risk, but it is not required.

Your brother better make sure he is the only one giving testimony about what happened.

A post said one round $50k attached, then if you have to shoot 4 rds then you need $200k to pay for legal fees ? Is it serious, then I better shoot once only with 45ACP rather than shoot 10 rds of 22LR. Some one with knowledges please clarify this.

I'm really glad your brother didn't get hurt. As others have said, if your brother is disabled, a shotgun would probably not be a good choice. But if you insisted on a shotgun, get a 20 gauge.

On handguns, a good revolver is always nice. I'd recommend a .357 though... much more power for mildly more kick. Or maybe something in 9mm Makarov or 9mm parabellum. Light, handy, not much kick, decent killing power.

I have took deer with RBCD 90gr with a Glock 21(45ACP) it took a step and died!
It was hit in the ribs below the leg and fragmented in the lungs and other organs, no exit wound!

I would not say it's the best round in the world but it did drop a medium size deer in it's tracks, I have seen deer run even been shot with a 30-06. As we all know shot placement is very important

                      Now the Question

How much Force Can he use to protect him self and his Family if the guy makes it over the wall and into his apartment?

He asked me to help him to go pick out a gun today.
Not knowing a lot about guns he said how about a 25acp (he had one before) I told him no you want something with a lot more stopping power I told him I thought the best home defense gun would be a pump shotgun in most cases just the cycling of the action would be enough to scare off most bad guys but I told him there would be consequences if he shot a killed someone that wasn’t armed. Just a Quick Note my Brother is handicapped and could in no way fight this guy
You’re kidding, right? What are you going to do, wait till he kills you? If he has a weapon or not and forces himself into your home, he is a dead man. Don't wait to see if he is going to beat you to death. Once he is in the house he can cover 11 feet in less than 1 second from a stand still, if you don't have your gun pointed at him already; you’re in trouble, because your reaction time combined with making a decision is more than a second. You need to decide that when your life is threatened you are going to kill the perp. This needs to be worked out now, not when he has already caved in your door and is threatening to come in. Taking a humans life is not a natural act, it is an act of survival or mental instability. Proper training will prepare you for such an incident, but believe me, you don't want to contemplate your decision on game day, you will lose.
