Shotgun mag spring retainer cup replacement help!

    Hello yall,
Now before anyone asks, I put this here instead of the shotgun forum because I feel like it would get more traffic. And I mean it's still a gun question soo...

    ANYWAY

I have an autoloading turkish shotun that works quite well, and which I am taking hunting. As such, I wanted to install the limiting plug.

The magazine spring is held captive by a spring cup thing; basically like a metal cup that has a hole in the center and a slot cut down the...wall? TO the hole, so that it can flex. It was hell to pry out, but the problem is, I have no idea how to get the cup back in the tube, especially under spring tension.

    Any tips?

    Also,

Could I just leave this retaining spring cup thing out, and just tighten on the tube/forearm end cap instead?

THanks yall, i already had the plug shoot into my safety glasses and put a hole in the ceiling so I'd rather not fool around with this much longer...

    Solved it.

Tried one more time and got pissed, so I slapped it with some pliers. Turns out this is the key and had it hammered in after like 30 seconds. Let's just pretend this never happened.

my Mossberg 590 works just fine without that part. In fact, my retainer got slightly distorted (out-of-round), and prevented me from closing the mag tub when installed.

only issue: you have to hold the mag end-cap very carefully when unscrewing it lest it launch.

I've written up my ongoing adventures as I learn to hunt.

Yes, you CAN fit a case of shotgun shells into a .50cal ammo can.

I think i found an optimal solution for ammo can labeling.

I made this target for the NRA's Marksman pistol test. I think it's a lot better than the paper plate they suggest.

As one who has very recently taken a 1911 recoil spring plug directly to the bridge of the nose, I feel your pain.

Let us not speak of our shame...
        It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.
