In a state where corruption abounds, laws must be very numerous.
Publius Cornelius Scipio
Tyranny is defined as that which is legal for the government but illegal for the citizenry.
― Thomas Jefferson
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
John Adams -
My firearms will be buried with me !!NRA Lifer
No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason
for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort,
to protect themselves against tyranny in government - Thomas Jefferson

I maintain an updated list of my firearms and their locations with my best friend. He has instructions on what to do should I get arrested, get divorced, or pass away. My wife understands and supports the arrangement as she knows how important it is to me that my collection remain in the hands of those who will appreciate them and cherish them as I do. As she is not a recreational shooter she will retain the firearms she wants for self-protection purposes and the rest will be distributed to designated individuals by my friend per my instructions.
I have the same arrangement with him for his collection. We are both comforted knowing that our final wishes will be carried out and that the contents of our gun safes will not end up being sold for pennies on the dollar."A vote is like a rifle; it's usefulness depends upon the character of the user." - Theodore RooseveltComment

It's already in my will. First, my wife shoots handguns, so she will get several that she already likes to shoot. My daughter who recently began learning how to shoot wants a handgun for Christmas. My son however really hasn't expressed any concerns one way or the other. As an attachment to my will, I've listed current day market values for each firearm. I've indicated that each of the two children, as well as my wife can selected one firearm from my collection for themselves. If there is mutual interest in a single firearm, the "tie" is broken by age, wife first, daughter second and son third. After each has selected one firearm the rest are to be selected through random draw. Anything not selected is to be sold with the proceeds going to my wife. I realize this process isn't perfect, but what is? Plus, all three are bright and level headed. Each already knows how the firearm distribution process will occur so I would not expect any issues.Comment

I discussed this years ago with my dad, my brother and sister have little to no interest in firearms so I get all of his collection.
My collection? That is a good question there, have three kids and they all have an interest in firearms but none as avid as mine. I would say that much of it would be sold off and the kids will take two or three favorites each. The wife could not care less about them so I will instruct one of my kids on how to sell them off for the best return on them.
This only applies if I die in the next 5 years or so. In the event I make it another 20-30 years (more than likely) I will have 4 grandchildren that will be between the ages of 24-40 years old so they will become part of the equation as well. I have one 10 year old grandson that would be seriously upset if he did not get something from Grampa's collection.Comment
