What are we doing with them?
Knock around guns = AR & Glock
Long range = Remington 700 & Thompson Contender
Showing off = German Weatherby MKV & early Python
    Cheap fun = Ruger 10-22 & MKIII

I was just about to post this. If I had to sell/get rid of all my guns besides one rifle and one handgun, you can bet your life savings that I'd keep my Model 70 and my 1911. The 70 was handed down from my WWII hero, Navy Cross recipient, great-grandpa and the 1911 was my first legal purchase, as well as the most expensive and "fine" gun in my collection. Sentimentals aside, it's simply a good all around handgun. Accurate enough to shoot bullseye, slim enough to CC and powerful enough for defensive work, against both 2 and 4 legged monsters.

That being said, I'll have to cast my vote for:
      1) A good bolt rifle. Specifics don't matter as long as it's accurate and well made. Could be anything from a Savage to a Swedish Mauser. Preferably in .270, 7 mag, 6.5x55, one of those sub .30, flat shooting general purpose big game cartridges. Mine's a .270.

      2) A concealed carry pistol. What exactly doesn't matter, since they're all pretty much the same. Your 3 choices are: generic plastic 9mm, 1911, or small frame revolver.

The poll is taken place as I write, as stated in the original post I'll list the final results when tallied. My goal is to see what one handgun/rifle is a must have in any or every decent collection. If you post a photo of a gun and I can't tell the model or caliber, it won't be counted in the end.

If you write "9mm handgun" that is not specfic enough to count as a model/make. However 1911 is enough to count as a 1911 45 cal unless it's stated as 1911 9mm, that would count as a different weapon. If you list 8 guns, none of those will count. My goal is to a good overall of must haves after the conclusion of this poll. Ill start the count once the responses die down.

                Let's the counting start!
