Gunbroker sellers dont ship to CA wtf?

I was lookin thru gunbroker and I found a nice double barrel shotgun for around $200 however it says will not ship to CA, NY etc.. I tried to explain to him that double barrels are 100% legal in just about every country that allows gun ownership let alone CA but he wouldnt budge. What is with these a holes? And Ive seen plenty more ads just like this, what gives?

Usually they don't want to deal with potential liability. Even if you say it's legal they still have to research on their own and thats where they get....ahhh f*k it moment. Just prepare to pay more if you want something shipped to CA.

Mostly ignorance of California laws and not wanting to put in the effort to verify that the firearm is legal. They also have to get a California Firearms Licensee Check (CFLC) number that the California Department of Justice, which is another hurdle that out of state sellers don't want to clear. Sellers that will ship to California frequently charge a nominal fee to cover the CFLC.

On gunbroker i stay away from those that say they won't ship to CA. These guys don't deserve our money.

On the ones that don't say anything about California, I will call or email them before I bid. Sometimes I find myself having to explain what can or can't be shipped. But they are usually nice about it

I wish there was someplace/website a lawyer could put a giant notice saying that all manually operated long guns/double barrel shotguns as well as all "military style" long guns not banned by name are 100% in CA with a bullet button.

It's frustrating at first.......then you kinda get used to it. But there are some pretty great deals out there......that you'll miss on occasion cause they just won't ship here.

              Can't blame them.

Same reason you don't vacation in Dubai, or Iraq. I know friends who visit family all the time with out issue. But because the media and your elected officials instilled fear in you, you don't want to go over there in fear.

So blame your local government for making the rest of the country afraid to do business with us.

I bought a 20g from there last week. No issue. But again I can't blame the ones who don't. I probably wouldn't want to either knowing out jacked up laws if I was in their freedom shoes.

The gun being legal is just one issue. Most don't understand the CLFC requirements. Some are willing to go through the process, and i have walked many through it. The ones who are willing get setup in the system and then expand into the California market. The ones who are unwilling still have no problem selling to states without this requirement. I hold nothing against another FFL who chooses not to play California's paperwork game.

Unless something has changed recently, only FFLs have to go through the CFLC BS. Private individuals don't need to. They can just ship to your FFL here in CA

California Firearms Licensee Check (CFLC) Program Are there any costs or fees to obtain a Firearms Shipment Approval number from the Department of Jusice (DOJ)? I am not a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) but I want to ship a firearm from another state to an FFL in California. Do I need to obtain a Firearm Verification Number before shipping a firearm to California? I am an FFL in California. How does the CFLC program affect me? Are any California FFLs exempt from the CFLC verification approval requirement? I am an FFL located outside of California.

It is FFl'S that are required to get a letter true. That being said many of the people selling on gb are FFL's. The non FFL's I have found to be much more agreeable to shipping into California.
