Guns direct in Burbank - Refused to handle PPT

I like to support my LGSs. I realize PPTs take resources so I make it a habit to buy guns and ammo in support.

I went in to Guns Direct in Burbank on a Wednesday afternoon to PPT 2 colt revolvers from a friend. First, a non sense line about multiple PPTs being against the law and they were refusing to protect me. After that was cleared, they said it was store policy as they don't have enough room in the safe for 2 revolvers.

I didn't argue. Only listened and politely left. I wasn't comfortable given the dialogue to leave the colts with them anyway.

I subsequently went down the street to Aegis trading. It couldn't have been easier. In and out in no time. Friendly and quick. Thanks aegis for supporting us.

    Simply passing along my experience.

They don't have a choice in the matter. It's a requirement of their license.

The DOJ has an 800 number for just such occasions.
    It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.

what else will they not do? Why do gun stores hang themselves by not giving good customer service?

Also had a bad experience with the store despite having bought several guns from them. I lost my copy of dros so went over to request a photocopy (gun was only bought three months ago). They refused to give me one saying they have all paperwork in a bin and not arranged. I offered to help find my dros but they rejected. They instead told me to go ask doj for a copy. Very very poor customer service. I am no longer coming back to them for my business.

How do they have such good reviews on yelp (all filtered I guess). I too will not shop there ever again, for other reason.

Wow, disappointing to say the least. As a frequent customer of GD, and I recommend them here quite often, I will swing by today to ask their side of the story. Not that I don't trust the OP, but hearing both sides is fair.

And to be clear, I don't own any stake at GD. I am simply a customer who has been very happy with them for a while now.

                        Appreciate the input everyone.

It was disappointing as I really like supporting my LGSs. I'm even willing to pay more for a product to do so as i believe they provide a service to our community. I want them to stay profitable. At least in this instance, they clearly were not out to serve our community.

I've probably done over 200 PPTs in my lifetime at Riflegear, AmmoBros, Turners, Aegis, Rettings, 2nd Zone, 2nd Amendment, etc. I can tell when a shop is trying to find an execuse not to do a PPT even though they are required to do so.

I even tried engaging them, as I thought they'd be excited about checking out the awersome Colt revolvers I was about to PPT........but nothing.

                        Thanks Calgunners.

Yes, I have. Multiple times actually. Both as a transferee (buyer) and as a transferor (seller). Long guns and handguns alike. And when I go there, whether I buy or not, the demeanor of the staff, manager and owners and their attitude towards customers (whether buying or not) were great.

I also had a bad experience with them. Some of their employees are great but one bad apple ruined it for me. I was there to looking for a glock gen 4 but ended up buying accessories for my AR. When I looked at my receipt I was overcharged by $2 For one of my items. I asked the employee and he realized the mistake. He called the manager over to fix the issue but that is when things when awkward and I lost faith in gun direct.

The manager scanned my purchased told me that there was nothing wrong. That the item was 9.99 and that the sticker price of 7.99 was wrong. So we stood there staring at each other for maybe 2 seconds. I guess he just wanted me to accept it and move on--and i almost did, it was only two bucks, but the fact that he was so rude about it just rubbed me the wrong way.

I asked for the difference back. He looked at me as though in his mind he was cussing me out for even asking and then he had the audacity to ask if I wanted the item or not. I started to boil inside. He was giving an ultimatum. Fortunately I worked in retail for 7 years as a manager at a big box department store and said the magic words in regards to consumer protection laws and he folded immediately and gave back the $2 overcharge.

It is unfortunate that the incident happened. I would have been fine if they kept my two bucks but the rudeness and attitude was unacceptable. It made me stand my ground. I also ended buying a glock gen 4 but not at guns direct. I drove to addax tactical which is further from me in burbank but I no longer trust guns direct. I will be picking up my new handgun in a couple of days.

I haven't done a PPT there, no. One out of state sale, and bought some things new from them.
