Mine has a wood stock and could be cut down for a grandchild if necessary and I could get a hot teal composite one. I could go on for hours, but I'm just gonna say that if I could only have one long gun, the 10 22 would be it.
Sorry Bonnie, I think your first paragraphs facts are a bit off..
The Marlin 60 has sold approximately double as many million rifles then the Ruger 10/22 .

That is over 11 million M60's vs the 10/22's over 5 million (some sources say 6 mill) and thats not even counting the detachable magazine fed variants such as the Marlin 70, and 795.

While the Ruger is the unchallenged "King of Custom", the Marlin is hands down the "True American Semiautomatic 22LR".

That said both are fine rifles and each have their place.

nope, Savage mark 2 FE with heavy barrel. you just waste too much ammo in a 22lr simi auto.

what's your favorite? Looking to get a 22 sometime soon, don't have one yet... had been thinking about a 10/22
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

A Marlin tube fed, bolt action that is a lot of fun. I also have my dads old Youth model, single shot Remington (I think Remington). Just feels great and being single shot, makes each shot feel more like a "shot".
I personally don't get the .22 rage. Even when ammo was cheap and easy to find. I have .22 comming out of my ears and I still have no desire to shoot it.

I'd still reccomend the 10/22 to anyone.

The only advantage of 22 for me is that I can shoot varmints without really worrying about remembering hearing protection all the time. Thanks for the tips!
