okay... name just one thing about the 10/22 that you like.

I'll start.
accessories no matter what type of shooter you are the 1022 has accessories (magazines,stocks,trigger kits....etc.) for you by the truckload.
no need to go hunting around for them either they're everywhere.

The Ruger 10 22 is the most popular gun in America. More people own them than any other single gun.

There's gotta be a reason, and that reason is they are versatile, inexpensive, easy to shoot, good to teach children to shoot with, lotsa accessories, they'll eat virtually any kind of ammo. Mine has a wood stock and could be cut down for a grandchild if necessary and I could get a hot teal composite one. I could go on for hours, but I'm just gonna say that if I could only have one long gun, the 10 22 would be it.
