In Nevada, you don't even need a permit to carry one in your car but loaded rifles are illegal.

        BUT.

CA's own SBR laws could very, very easily label this an SBR.

I'm trying to not spread FUD, but I am repeating what others much wiser and smarter than I have said, like Lorax3, joefrank64k, and Bwiese.

TL;DR grey area that might land you in jail
Ok I was going to say FML! I'm just about to buy 2 for the 80's I just finished.

I don't blame you, we can't get these wacky laws right all of the time, It's a grey area at best.

Regardless of the Legal status of the arm brace:

Do you really think telling the bad guy "Hey hang on a minute let me strap on my arm brace before we start shooting" will really work?!?!?!?

Joking aside anything used for CCW must be readily and immediately available to use in defending yourself or others. There is no ccw setup for AR/AK/FAL/P90/whatever else modified to be a pistol from a carbine/rifle rig that lets the weapon stay concealed (talking actual conceal it so it doesn't swing/hang out, not printing) and at the same time be immediately available to use.

Yup, same here in Colorado. The car is legally an extension of the home, so no permit needed.

I'm going to go ahead and respectfully disagree with you here. I'm thinking something along the lines of an ak pistol without arm brace, one point bungee sling, 10 round short mag, and a clip draw type deal attached to the forend. It would hang nicely under a heavy coat and the clip draw could be tucked into your belt/pants so it wouldn't swing around. This set up could be deployed very quickly and concealed quite easily with the proper wardrobe considerations. Sometimes you gotta think outside the box a little bit.

No picture of the firearm is submitted when the Form 1 is submitted for an AOW.
The sig brace us considered an attachment, like an unpinned muzzle brake.

This is why I would only put a sig brace on an AOW:

16590 lists "generally prohibited weapons", such as short barreled rifles.

17710. (a) The provisions listed in Section 16590 do not apply to
"any other weapon" as defined in subsection (e) of Section 5845 of
Title 26 of the United States Code, which is in the possession of a
person permitted to possess the weapons under the federal Gun Control
Act of 1968 (Public Law 90-618), as amended, and the regulations
                  issued pursuant thereto.

With the correct equipment setup, this method appears to be easier to CCW:

Forget about the brace. The foregrip is a no-no on an AR pistol. This particular configuration is illegal in CA if it is a *pistol.*

Rural counties actually do allow AR's and Shottys on the permit. For ranchers etc, to get around the loaded weapon laws...

Stop spreading FUD. If an arm brace makes a pistol become an SBR then so does a pistol buffer tube.
