Just paid $65 @ Rob's (RMB Enterprise) for a VP9 (SSE'd configuration). I had thought it was $45. $65 is still not bad.

Try that link, if you don't find a good one, do an FFL search. There are a bunch of sites that are listing FFL's.

TRAP in Tracy charges $40 + DROS for long guns and non-SSE pistols. It's worth the drive for me.

I've got an out of state pistol transfer in jail at OC Firearms. Transfer fee and SSE was $80 last week + the $25 DROS.

Below is a link from OC Firearms and what they charge. From what I recall, these prices are pretty close to what OC Armory and Rifle Gear charges also.

In my experience, for a new gun, you can bypass the extra $$$ for the transfer fee if you have your LGS order the handgun from the distributor. I did just that and it arrived 2 days after I placed my order. I paid SSE and DROS and I was good to go.
tried to do that with Turners when i was searching for my Ruger GP100 3" Stainless...they came back with $725.00 if they had it shipped in, when the guns were selling on average for $575.00-650.00 online..sigh

eventually found it on Classic Firearms for $547.00 shipped, then paid a LGS the $50 transfer fee + DROS

funny thing is, if Turners would've been just a bit more reasonable I probably would've let them order it in, but, they blew me out of the water with the price, which was practically MSRP when everyone else was coming in much lower

I called rifle gear the other day and they want $85 for a transfer fee including DROS. Aka $50 + DROS fees.
That would be $60 plus DROS state only gets $25. Shop around that can be beat. Some of the home based people charge $50 including DROS. Last I checked Straighline charges $45 plus DROS.

That is our fee for SSE guns since SSE is included in that price.

We charge $55 plus dros for on list guns and long guns. $85 plus dros for SSE guns.

PPT max is 10 for the dealer +25.00 for the transfer. That's the law. But if you are purchasing a new or shipped firearm the shop can set their own price.

The simple answer is because the state gave them a monopoly and now they know they can sucker people for whatever they want.

The fees were more bearable before the CA BOE retards started forcing FFLs to collect tax.

The tax should be applied to the transfer fees, not the gun's price. The FFL is not selling you the actual gun - the sale already took place with another vendor that isn't obligated to collect tax. In my opinion, the only taxable event is the transfer fee of the gun.

Last time I did a transfer was $50 including DROS + tax at 2A Zone (run by Baboosh on calguns).
