    I agree Tony!
Col Cooper taught to use the support thumb for slide release and strong hand thumb for engaging or disengaging the safety .

It's also why both thumbs are pointed at the target .

OP it should work, maybe try a breakin period . As a side note I have a 1911 with a recoil buffer and the slide will not go forward with what's called the slingshot method .

Actually they don't teach that at Gunsite when using a SIG...which is the focus of the OP. It would be extremely awkward to reach the Slide Lock with the support thumb

If you are using this gun for any defensive purpose, you might consider removing the buffer. It impedes clearing feeding stoppages

It called a SLIDE STOP and not a SLIDE RELEASE for a reason.

I'm not familiar with that model Sig, although I've heard different schools teaching to always use the slingshot method for releasing the slide . Others teach to practice being consistent .
The slingshot method is probably the better practice,as it works for every self loader I can think of including guns with no slide stop like waltherPPK models.

Thank you for the good advice, I will remove the recoil buffer next time I clean the kimber 1911 .

I rack the slide. It's more consistent from pistol to pistol, as many manufacturers do not place the slide catch at exactly the same point along the frame.

              1. Use modern pistol

              2. At slide lock, eject empty mag and grab new full mag

              3. Hold gun at 45 degree angle and slam fresh mag into the magwell

              4. Slide will auto-forward without any further manipulation.

              Fastest way to reload.
