While that was a minor annoyance, all of the sudden I hear this kid empty a whole magazine at rapid fire pace. Everyone around the them gave them looks, and luckily the guy in the lane to the left of him told him he was startling people and to not do it again.

But I mean how stupid do you have to be to do that? I don't even want to know how old this kid was or where his handgun experience stems from, but you could tell his mom was only accompanying him so they'd let him shoot. Wish the RO was there to lay in to him but I couldn't spot him.

Oh and another thing - I was reloading mags when I see this red dot laser sight go just left of my head, coming from behind me. At a gun range, you can probably imagine how uneasy that would make someone feel. I turn around and there's this group of kids with laser pointers messing around and pointing them at me through the glass window.

I was definitely ready to call it a day after that. Since I'm a member there now, I'm kind of tempted to say something next time I come in, but I think it would have been most appropriate to handle the situation while I was there. So I think I learned a lesson in timing at least.
Sounds like someone mated a Chuck E. Cheese with an indoor range... YIKES.

With that said, did the kid break any safe handling rules? Rapid fire rules are pretty stupid to me once it is clear you can handle the gun and get all the rounds down-range and not in an unsafe fashion.

I'm with you there. I pretty much avoid the range on the weekends, and I don't remember the last time I went to an indoor range.

Last time I visited the range it was soo packed, so I finally get a lane(outdoor range) and I start my shooting, my neighbor was some blond chick she was probably 120 pounds tops! Shooting a 357 Magnum, while her bf and friends laughed at her watching her handle the recoil and scream in every shot!!

Soo much damn ignorance, her muzzle was everywhere, trigger on finger even when off target, I used up my 3 mags and left in one piece. Sucked

There's usually enough screens. but what got me pissed was they were watching the spent case fly at me. and didn't care if it was hitting me or my friend. Oh wells there's always people like that. but on a side note went to Oak Tree range and it's real nice there. think I'll be going there from now on. They allow fast fire there as well!

Remember that Oak Tree sold gun owners down the river for a pretty face.

I actually prefer when that happens. Free brass for me to reload. Best thing about Angeles? I don't feel guilty about taking it, seeing as how they still owe me a few hundred cases of 223 and 9mm.

One thing I hate are shotguns next to me. Usually my targets are out at 25 yards. The spray from the shotguns sprinkles my targets with shot. I usually never get a 'sorry' either.

I hate shotguns next to me at an indoor range too, I also hate ARs with muzzle brakes. I still shoot, but it's annoying when the lanes to my left and to my right both have muzzle brakes and are directing the gases to my face.

Hypothetical question here: Since laser pointers have the potential for permanent eye damage, do they count as a credible threat to serious bodily harm and justify the use of lethal force?

I don't know about everyone else, but having my eyesight ruined would pretty much end my career and greatly diminish the quality of my remaining life. I consider that pretty ****ing serious.

A bunch of us CGN'ers shoot in Oroville. Most are very reasonable and aware.

But no Range Master means out of control for some. Gets crowded and all hell breaks loose. One occasion a ricochet came sideways and really close to the bench. Zing...

I called these guys the Motley Crew.

If you get there early it's nice. I like to sit, drink coffee, talk about what a good shot I am!!!

The issues with the party in the next lane, I would handle that face to face. Most people don't realize (and some just don't care) how their actions are affecting others or the danger they are placing themselves in.

The laser at the window - That is a completely different issue. That I would report to the RO and management IMMEDIATELY! Standing at a gun range and a red dot passes any part of my body, I would assume, just as you did, that that laser was attached to a firearm. Don't know how I would react - that you didn't turn around with a gun at the ready, good on you for verifying your target!
