And the day someone tells me how to shoot at a range is the first day i ever curse someone out in public.

It's hilarious how CA gun owners are scared of a little rapid fire tho, good thing full-auto is banned here I guess. It's also pretty damn funny when someone does a mag dump and doesn't hit the target a single time.

I can understand the OPs concern in this case as it was just some little kid with his mommy and the whole incident in Nevada happening a few weeks ago.

There seems to be a belief in our society that if you have a camera, you can now do whatever you want. You can stand wherever you want and you can invade other peoples' "bubble" if you want -all because you're a reporter or someone with a camera. It's wrong, especially on a gun range.

There seems to be a misunderstanding of how to conduct oneself at a gun range.

Take as many pictures as you want, do it in a safe manner; don't be a ****ing democrat about it.

Rapid fire, if shooter is competent enough to keep it downrange and not hit hangers, ceiling, etc. = MYOB

Invading your space and laser pointers at you = tell them to GTFO

If you are a paying member of the range then you should definitely say something. Having kids in there messing around with a laser pointer is unacceptable. If it was me I might consider calling management, telling them about my experience, how uncomfortable it made me feel and that I now have to reconsider the membership money I spent next time dues are up.

That usually gets a response for me, I always try to remain polite.

                YMMV

I avoid indoor ranges on weekends. I go early on weekday mornings and avoid a lot of that crap. I like the space, the lack of morons and kids.

All the more reason to love where I live. I drive fifteen minutes east and I can shoot in the forest all by my lonesome, no idiots for miles.

No one is scared of rapid fire. But it is distracting when most of us go shooting to practise marksmanship. There are also quite a few ranges/places on blm land that allow rapid fire.

Last one I witnessed was a retired military fella that swept the line with his M1A, this is after he was repeatedly told by me NOT to handle his rifle at the bench while people were down range. What a ****ing prick.
But did you thank him for his service? I understand it's the thing to do.

You just highlighted the problem with rapid fire: people rarely hit anything and in fact they don't usually have complete control over the firearm. This is why ranges don't like it. In 80% of cases, it is unsafe behavior.

                            Safety first.

The vast majority of the time when people rapid fire they are shooting all over the place and it is therefore unsafe. That's why most experienced shooters get nervous when they hear it. If the shooter knows what the heck they are doing then no problems.

If you ever did something stupid or unsafe while I was at the range, you can bet you'd hear about it from me and likely most everyone else here on this forum. One may be the safest, most competent shooter around, but if they happen to screw up, they should take the tongue lashing like a man and apologize.
