Your SSN isn't entered into the DROS computer. There is no spot for it.

It stays on the paper at the FFLs until one of their employees uses it for identity theft....

Second the idea of calling the DOJ yourself. Make sure its legitimate.

this is just a wild guess but if it was a legitimate call maybe there's someone with your exact name that has a criminal background, is a super spy or man of mystery.

Wait! ... is your name Mr Hamburglar?

they've been looking for him for a long time.

            ;-)

or do you have a common name?

even if you do, I don't like the stuff they make us go through just to exercise our rights that we're born with.

I got a call from DOJ a few weeks ago after I sent in an intrafamilial transfer. I forgot to put the date I aquired the firearms from my father, and they called to ask the date of possession. Number wasn't restricted though. I don't answer blocked or restricted numbers.

Maybe call CC company or bank just to have them aware of potential and to be on lookout.
they do have a MO of using voice calls to do things they shouldn't be doing... re: to keep it out of writing.

Yea, that's someone trying to ID theft/scam you. Don't give them anything at all. The restricted # coming up should be a red flag.

Security is strange, its only one way with bureaucrats.

I got a call from my Credit Card Company they were investigating fraud and wanted me to confirm my information. I said hell no, I have no idea who I am talking to on the other end of the phone line but that I would call them back on their public line and speak with their fraud department.

After calling them, it was a large data breach, and they issued a new card.

I never volunteer any information to anyone over the Telephone unless I initiate the call to their public number, so I have some sense that I am talking to a valid person and not a scammer.

If it was DOJ you should have been given an extension number and been able to call their public number, after you verified it was a legit call, given the information requested.

DOJ and ATF called a buddy of mine because he had sooo many firearms purchases in a 30 day period.

They asked him why he bought so many firearms, to which he retorted, "none of your damn business and promptly hung up.
