Actually it is a P90 TR. (Note the triple rail).

Uses the same ammo and was developed in conjunction with the FN five-seven.

Anyone else think its funny they make badges that say secret service? And anyone who has played call of duty knows that's a p90 gj to those who went above and named models

That badge is on velcro - it can say anything he wants it to say...

I'm not a ballistics expert - why is it that every time the gov looks for a new weapon, they want a smaller bullet at higher velocity? Is it primarily to minimize weight and maximize ammo carrying capacity?

Secret Service is carrying something that can't stop a guy from walking in the front door unannounced.

I think they picked the fn 5.7x28 because it can penetrate soft body armer.

I would guess that the military wants small and fast because it cuts down on weight and the reduced recoil cuts down on training time

The 5.7 ammo that the government can buy is AP(us normal people can't because of the stupid AP handgun ammo ban). Also, light recoiling, high capacity in the magazine(50 rounds vs. 30 out of a standard AR mag), light ammo making it easier to carry more of it(lighter than .223, a lot lighter than .308. Also 150 rounds in 3 mags, vs 5 mags for an M4). I don't know off the top of my head how well it does for distance, but those guys aren't going to be shooting beyond a couple hundred yards anyway. On top of that, you can't forget the snipers that are stationed around, plus plenty of other guys that do likely have M4s(or some variant) handy if they do end up having to deal with more than a couple idiots running across the lawn.
