Actually after double checking, it appears that the palm springs office hasn't closed their two designated shooting areas south of joshua tree. So there you go.

So I looked up the maps and what on earth are you guys talking about??
According to the fire map, Hodge Road isn't even close to the Stage III areas. Which means shooting is still permitted.
And since when has it been closed to only shotgun for a while? East of the 15, yes. But not Hodge Rd.Comment

Read that link a little more carefully. BLM is closed for shooting only in Stage III fire restriction areas. There are huge swaths of desert that are still only Stage I and target shooting is good to go.All BLM locations in socal have been closed to shooting since due to "fire restrictions." BS because I'm having a hard time finding places to shoot.

^^^ The "news" and the "web" dont decide what is/isnt closed and where you can/cannot shoot on BLM. The BLM field offices & the counties they are in decide that. Some currently have shooting restrictions, others do not. Go to the source and stop spreading FUD. FYI, Hodge Rd. is NOT shotgun only. All shooting is allowed there, thats why its always been so popular, its one of the first exits where all shooting is allowed.Last edited by drifts1; 09-21-2014, 7:47 PM.Comment

Exactly but that's the only place they want to look or seek info we have roads, maps, GPS, phones and #'s to every agency out there for the right information. like I posted earlier You can make a two or so hour drive to almost any Desert area in any direction and be in shooters heaven. Get out and find what you're looking for rather than relying on second hand info from places like here.^^^ The "news" and the "web" dont decide what is/isnt closed and where you can/cannot shoot on BLM.
