I myself would never pay the extra price for the gen 4. I think its just a status symbol. Doesn't make sense to do that when I can get the gen3 for $300.00 less via Blue Label.sigpic

My local FFL's price difference is only about $75. Taking into account the extra mag you get with the gen4, its really only about $50 difference. Thats too little to stress over. Not to mention the gen4 will only go up in value next year, the gen 3, not so much.Comment

The Gen 4 has 2 notable items (the grips size and 20% less felt recoil) are worth considering depending on the caliber you'll choose and the size of one's hands.
For me, that was the difference that allowed me to carry a 45 and not a 9mm.

Due to the SSE "ban" Gen4...
As far as the guns head to head, I would take either. But again because of the SSE going away the Gen4 does have better value at the moment.Comment

+1. Been saying it for years, even before I got my Gen4. Got a Gen4 by chance and my opinions still haven't changed. I still agree with above. Love my Gen4 23, but as for it making 3's obsolete I don't think so.Comment

I have a USA MODEL glock22 I picked up for $479. I don't think it's worth the extra cash for the gen4. And as far as the difference in quality, don't see anything. But I love it, like all my GLOCKS.sigpic

All my Glocks are gen3, after shooting a gen 4 G17 about a year ago... Just renforced my "meh" torwards them. I like the grip texture better, but the standard backstrap still feels best to me, didnt feel more than a negligible amount of recoil mitigation either.
Not enough of an improvement for me to spend the extra cash to SSE one.
Though now with that option being taken from us, I think I shall "just cuz", perhaps a G32... If the recoil difference really is 15%, I think that would be best served in a .357, .40 or 10mm anyway.Comment
