Ca. Shield LCI Better now !!!

So i picked up my Shield on Friday and that tham LCI has been getting to me this hole time lol, So last night i removed it and took care of the issue.

I placed it in some nail polish remover and let it sit for a bit to weaken the paint. After a bit of work i was finally able to get it all off. The hardest part was the lettering.

I did notice that my LCI has a round indent on the side like it was Miss punched or something not sure if the resat are like this, regardless you can see it when its on so it does not bother me.

I also used a file to file down the inner section a bit so that it does not pop up as much when loaded, ( i still wanted it to pop up a bit just for reference in the dark Just in Case...

So here is what it looks like...

    Indent i was talking about

Now when its up you cant even notice it in the sight picture.

So why didn't you cut down the tab so it didn't rise up?

I just wanted it to not rise up as much. I kinda like the idea that I can feel for it in the dark. But it rises less than 50% as much as it use to now so I like it much more and it's out of the sight picture now also.

Cool. It looks good. Mine doesn't bother me and if I'm lucky, I'll be selling it in about 3 years anyway. I'll replace all my cali-legal guns at that time.

That is the long range plan. Plans can change though.

I like my shield and I'd really not have a need to sell it as the LCI and mag safety really don't bother me. But, its the principle of the thing. Obviously not so principled that I SSEd a safetyless model.

Also, I can envision that if locals are stuck with a thin roster, PPT will be lucrative. At least lucrative enough to fund a replacement and a tad more.

Way to make the best of it,

But still stupid it has that thing to begin with.

Rid of that and the disconnect and we'd be golden.

True, but hopefully things get better and not worst in this state. I would also love to leave but all my family is here.

As far as the shield goes it did bother me far more when it was a huge red thing sticking up with the white lettering. I like it more now.

                          Looks great

OP - never done much gunsmithing, other than 10/22 upgrades. how is taking out the LCI and getting it back in? What'd you use to get the pin out? Tips?

I've never liked that tab, talk about obtrusive. Still an amazing little gun though.

Small enough roll pin punch will do the trick to remove the LCI.

I recently install a set of Ameriglo Pro-i dot night sight set on my Shield. The LCI raised up and block bottom 1/3 of the front sight dot.

I took the LCI out and grind down the LCI so it will not raise so much. It works as expected. No more LCI in my sight picture, but still raise up enough so you can feel it.
