    the "Powder Log"...WTF?

So I'm running errands earlier and decided to stop by the new Dublin Guns/Fishing that opened last week. Headed over to the reloading area and noticed that had quite a bit of powder in the cases. Also noticed primers took a jump from $34.95 to $39.95. But what really caught my eye was the "Powder Log" binder on the counter.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no current city/state requirement to log (name, address, what was purchased - didn't see fingerprints) reloading component sales at this time that I'm aware of. I know the Senate Bill that was proposed to fingerprint each ammo sale fell through (but I believe some [all?] shops in Sacramento fingerprint ammo sales).

Wow...just wow. Why is it that some shops seem to go SO FAR above and beyond the legal requirement with paperwork? Not a good way to start off in my book.

My guess is that its a city/county thing.. Alameda Co is pretty much full-retard when it comes to firearms.. Walmart cant even sell ammo.

I tried to ask while I was in there, and got a shrug. The kids working the counter seemed like they would have problems finding their *** with both hands, let alone knowing anything about what they were selling.

GFOS, the shop that spreads FUD like they're at a toast buttering competition, and does stupid crap like calling the DOJ to report customers they don't like.

Monterey County had the same type of a log. That was a long time ago and don't know if they still do. As best as I can recall it was just for powder not primers. I can't think of any one selling powder in the Monterey County now!

Damn it, just got caught by this, I saw it in another post and forgot. story-I called before I went to ask if they had Hodgons H4831SC, kid on the phone said I dunno, let me go look, ---nope, we have IMR4831 but no Hodgons, ok can you transfer me to long guns? sorry I don't know how can you call back? ok, I call back and ask for long guns, do you have any Mossberg 930 JMPro's in 22" or 24"? I don't think so, can you go look? ok hold on, ----nope all I have is tactical 930's---uhhh what does it say on the side of the receiver? hold on---ohh I stand corrected I do have both the 22" and 24" model you asked about. wow just wow. so I drive down and figure what the heck I will go look at powder cabinet....gee multiple lbs of Hodgons H4831SC!!! so I ask for a lb the guy gets it out and says you don't mind signing a powder log do you? arrrgh! yes I do mind! they say its Dublin requiring it, I just don't like it, so are we supposed to justify how much we shoot compared to how much we buy? is it the start of limits on how much you can keep, shoot etc? BS! And GFOS needs to get some people that know their product, Ian at the ammo counter when I went in did seem like he knew what he was talking about and did provide good service in store.

Powder log? Oh jeez, this state continues to degrade by the day.

Wildsports does this in Orangevale too. I don't personally have a problem with it although it seems like a big waste of time. They also ask "what are you going to do with it?". It's kind of in line with the questions on the DROS forms.

Sportsmen's Supply in Campbell used to keep a log. They said it was a city ordinance.

Bass pro Rancho requires some form to be filled out during powder purchase. Says it's a req. by the city.
