Should I send back my Remington 700 or replace trigger?

I was kinda on the fence about sending it back, but now I guess I get to go shopping for a new trigger

Funny, I was just thinking about this. Guess I'll be lookin for a Timney too.

Anybody have any experience modifying their 700 to accept a magazine? Been thinking about that too. Would really like to do it myself unles there is tons of additional fitting or special tools needed.

I originally contacted Remington and started the recall process. After 6 weeks or so without hearing anything from them I just installed a Timney trigger and threw away the recalled factory trigger. A couple weeks after I replaced it a box showed up to send it back, it went straight into the recycle can.

look around for a local Remington service center. They should be able to do the work in a shorter time without the long delay/risk of shipping.

I put a timney on mine. Much better trigger plus wait til you see deplorable box they send you to ship your rifle back. Its insulting.

Ditto! Timney trigger, cheaper than having to take scope off, ship, wait, put scope back on.

How do you figure? They pay for shipping both ways since it's recall work. Resighting is about, what, a box of ammo at worst? Unless you) the trigger is cheaper than $40 i don't know how it's cheaper.

I live out in the sticks, so no UPS delivery, about an hour to get to a UPS shipping center one way, Post Office not the best choice to ship firearm? Been wanting to change trigger out for something better so already did it! My time is also worth something.

1300+ rounds thru my 5R and no issues with mine. Having said that, it's getting replaced with a Huber 2-stage after Surefire PRS next week.

I just bought R700 from another member here and I come to find out it's affected by the trigger recall. I call Remington and lady tells me turnaround for the fix is 12 weeks waiting the 10 days was long enough! Now, my question is should I send it back or replace the trigger with a Timney? Any consequences for me not sending it back for the recall? Thoughts?

I'd try and find a gun store that repairs Remington rifles under contract. They might be able to get it in and out sooner for you.
