I emailed my friend in New Zealand and it turns out that I've shot goats on some of the forestry blocks that are shown in that video but not on the cliff face.

The guy doing the shooting is named Mark and the guide/outfitter's name is Tony (in New Zealand he's known as "Full of Sheet, Tony")

Ask your friend if they still have goats trapped on the cliff face/ledge, it is pretty rare I think, to have such a naturally appearing "goat trap".

His answer was that he's never seen a slope that goats could go down that they couldn't get back up. He's been shooting goats in that same area his whole life.

Hah hah....thanks! It is a little strange when I saw that video, and when I showed it to my colleagues (they are all shooters/gun owners) they too mentioned that it is strange to see goats stuck.

Kiwi friend of mine was telling me years ago that the feral goats and pigs are a huge problem out there. Apparently the local farmers at some points were offering to provide the ammo for people to go out and thin the herds down for them. They just didn't have the time to go out and do it themselves, there were just so many of them.

I kill a few on almost every trip to New Zealand, the sheep farmers are always glad to see me. I don't even bring a gun or ammo.
