How do I let CA know I moved away?

As my industry has largely moved out of the country, I finally have to follow it. I've already moved all my firearms out of CA for storage and do not really intend to come back here.

In the meantime, I've changed my mailing address to my parent's house so that whatever mail comes will go there and not to my condo which will be rented out. I may end up with US PO box later if it looks like that'll be viable.

My question is, how do I let CA know that I don't live here anymore, or more importantly, don't have any guns here anymore? I'd really hate for my renters or parents get a midnight visit for any reason.

I do have RAWs, do I have to un-register them?

Any help with this would be great.

    Thanks!

Just send them a hate mail - they'll find you.

Remember that old Americas tire commercial where the old lady throws the tire through the window?

No need. In fact, if you don't say anything, you should be able to return with your RAWs if you have to.

You need to let the DMV know you have no vehicles registered here anymore. There was a thread not long ago about some guy that moved and later his Chase bank account was raided for back registration fees, even though the same vehicles were registered in another state for some time. Evidently California believed he was still here and not paying.

I have had problems with DMV losing sale notices I have turned in on vehicles I have sold in the past. Sometimes it was 3 years later. So I could see this happening. As far as guns? I agree with the others, that they don't care about you at the DOJ as long as you took the guns out with you.

How do you do it? I don't know, as I am still stuck here.

Stupid people don't know they are stupid. Because they are stupid. They will follow evil geniuses and do their bidding, because they are stupid.

Really super stupid people look up to, and follow stupid people like they were geniuses, because to them, they are. Unfortunately the reality of it is, that doesn't make stupid people any smarter.

That right there is the root cause to most problems in the world.

Yep me too sold a van to a guy who took it to Colorado. Couple years later DMV hits my State tax refund for $81.00. I had no idea why. Same thing the next year. I'm thinking I better take some time off and go to DMV but then one night at 3 in the morning there is pounding on my door. Local Sheriff saying my van was involved in a hit and run.

I told them no way, it's been in Colorado for years. They asked me to describe it. I gave them a photo and they confirmed it did not match the hit n run vehicle's description.

Next day I went to DMV and they tried to charge me another $380. for a vehicle I had sold years before. Luckily I had a copy of the sales paperwork stamped by the DMV.

Hahaha..... You wish. They will never be un-registered.

                    Thanks guys.
Good tip on the DMV thing. Given that we are going to another country, I doubt the vehicle export department is in any helpful way connected to the DMV.
As far as un-regging my RAWs, I'm clear that info stays in the system forever, but I was more interested in disassociating them from any local address.

Don't worry about what California thinks of you if you moved away. Your reasons are your own, and while this state will forever be my home, that doesn't mean it has to be yours.

If you left this communist piece of **** state, then do me a favor and don't look back. Forget this state ever even existed and hope that it somehow falls into the ocean even though it's physically impossible, because as a third generation San Diegan, for the sake of the future of the Republic, I hope to whatever god may or may not exist, that California gets vaporized in a cloud of nuclear smoke before it's too late for the rest of you *******s.

Forget California. Don't even allow it to defile your memories.

This is not Communist China! Why do you think you need to let Kalifornia know you move to a different state? Just move and be happy already!

there is no law that requires you to report your move to the state you are departing from.

wish you the best on the move and new work environment.

Pretty much what I was thinking. Still didn't stop Ca from trying to extort me recently for 300 dollars they claim I owe them from my 2009 tax return (really CA? Couldn't have brought that to my attention before I moved out of state? I think someone's just jealous...)
