DA/SA versus Striker Fired.

I like DA/SA giving me an option to decock it when not in immediate threat and still ready to go bang anytime. My wife and I sold our polymers and went all DA/SA all the way.

Polymer framed striker fired pistols can also have decockers(refer to the list that neouser posted).

Why is this DA/SA vs. striker fired? Just because something is striker fired, doesn't mean it can't have DA/SA operation just like a hammer fired pistol. That's like saying "semi auto vs. revolver" as if there aren't any semi auto revolvers.

I could have been better using the example "hammer vs striker" LOL But I was stressing the importance of having the capability of pulling the trigger multiple times without re racking. Just curious.

Even though I have more semi autos now, I started out as a revolver person and still enjoy a DA/SA revolver very much.

I've mentioned it elsewhere but I'm glad my first handgun has been a sa/da because it makes most other triggers seem pretty damn light. I don't get to shoot as much as I want to but the two trigger pulls don't bother me at this point. My FN Herstal has a pretty smooth double action pull that feels lighter to me then some P226's & 220's I've tried out.

A negative that took some time to get over is when I first started shooting with it, I was learning indoors with thin ear muffs(not doubled up) & had some hand cannons going off next to me so seeing the hammer start cocking back would have me anticipating the shot.

I dunno'... what about all those metallic, mechanical noises you hear in the movies?

Every time someone points a pistol (even if it's already cocked) it sounds like 17 people racking various AK's, Shotguns and a Mini 14.

I don't know what's wrong with my guns, none of 'em make any noises like that.
