Is Digital Instincts still open?

My girlfriend finally decided to purchase her own Sig and had it shipped to Digital Instincts in Sunnyvale. Unfortunately, Kentucky Gun Co. botched the order and it took a full two weeks for them to figure out what happened. Now that the order is settled, we've been trying to get a hold of Chris at Digital Instincts to work out a time to DROS and see if it's possible to get the necessary box stickers to qualify for the Sig rebate. Numerous emails and voicemails have gone unanswered and we're wondering what's going on. Has anyone dealt with DI recently?

Chris is there. My buddy received an email from him yesterday and I saw him last weekend. He is super busy though so I presume that's why it's taking so long for him to get back to you. His customer service has always been excellent I can only imagine he has so much additional business on his plate with the increases in SSE. He has not been easy to catch up to lately.

Same here. I was looking for a shop to do an SSE and I called them three times and left a message with plenty of explanation and contact info. Never heard from them.

I ended up going with Brian Nussbaum in Burlingame and was quite pleased with the whole experience. He, unlike many other gun shops, actually stocked the guns he offered to do SSE's on, and had what I wanted. The shop, while very small, was neatly kept, well lit, and the staff (two guys when I was there) were very friendly and patient with all of my and my dad's questions. We were in there about an hour total, and never once heard anything about Obama, made up "can't do/have that in California" laws or any other conspiracy theories or paranoid dis-info from a tinfoil-hatted mouth breather, which is more that I can say for a certain local place here in Watsonville. He didn't try and dissuade my dad (who was getting quotes/info on his "short list") from ordering something in favor of what was on the shelf already, also unlike a certain place in Watsonville, and didn't gouge me on my purchase or any of my dad's prospective purchases, again, unlike a certain place in Watsonville.

Long story short, it was a good experience and I would shop there again in the future. I also noticed a few Sigs in their case while I was there so you might give them a call.

One man show out of his home with a little one and he's just swamped. I know when merchandise arrives and I just drop him an email ahead of time with a proposed DROS date and time and he gets back to me in a day or two. he's always been terrific and have referred many people to him who have always been pleased.

The problem with Nussbaum he he won't allow a firearm to be shipped to him with some BS that it's illegal and you have to buy from his inventory which is in my opinion rather over-priced.

Not sure why the rant against Markley's. They don't SSE, and since it is a business of course they are going to try to sell what's on the shelf. Kinda their reason for being and all that. Their prices are not bargains but they are certainly not "gouge" and lower than a few well established Bay Area shops. Nor would I be inclined to "drive over the hill" twice to save 20 bucks on a G34, be kinda silly.

As to their staff, I do not rely on any gun store for expertise. I do my homework. But I have always found them to be friendly and courteous, especially the portly fellow Marshall. One of the sincerely nicest people I have ever met.

I think I know the guy you're talking about and yes he is a really nice guy but I've heard a lot of made up laws from him before. Just recently he told me that when the SSE goes away then all the previously SSE'd guns would be retroactively banned and either have to be made permantly single shot or turned in.

I do my own homework too but it seems like I cant even open my mouth in that store without being "corrected" with made up info. Maybe its because I'm young and I never buy much there.

Last time I went to vegas I was in Bass Pro and saw a .22 I liked. It was a little single shot ithica and it was only $90. I called markleys to see if I could arrange a transfer and all I got was this big long rant about dem illegal AK M16 salt weapons and a bunch of other BS about California laws.

Earlier this year, maybe april or may my dad and I were in there looking at ARs and this guy kept pushing this no-name base model GI gun on us and kept saying how it was the best thing you can get and wanted about a grand for it. He even said they were better than colts or S&W for whatever made up reasons and couldn't even tell me the twist rate of the barrel when I asked him. It wasnt the big guy though, he was young and had paracord everywhere.

I'm in the same boat, I'm waiting 8 days now for him to return voicemails or emails about a 380 he received last Thursday to do an SSE on, no answer.

Yikes! 8 days?! That does not assuage my fears one bit.

Well, I've been searching the net the last few days and I've come across 21 DAY horror stories of FFL transfers sitting there for that long before DRoS was started and still being completed.

So, 8 days, not so bad, right?

I hope I get a response soon. Last contact was 6 days ago, and there have been several emails and voicemails left for him since then. It's strange because he was very responsive at first, and then just disappeared.

He gave me a later than usual appt on a weeknight to fit my schedule.
Yes sometimes he takes longer (2 weeks for first reply bc he was out of
Town) than normal (1-2 days?)to reply but once you have set
An appt no issues after that. Prices are fair and he is easy to deal with

Yeah that dude brian told me the same thing about having a gun shipped that has to be SSE that every ffl that is doing it is breaking the law ans that DOJ is going to shut them down quick. 1 year later i still the same shops that are doing "illegal" SSE are still in business. I think he tells you that just so you can buy straight from him.
As far Chris he's very nice and takes his time with you and answear every question that you ask. He is a one man show so hes always busy. Dont trip he'll call you and set up a date. Ive gotten 3 firearms from him and hes never let me down with his customer service and his prices
