    Remington Quality BAD

Got my brand new remington 597 hb. Stock is warped. I contacted remington to see if theyll send me a new stock. Boys and girls, go check your remington stocks!

    Here are some pics

For the second picture, i taped 5 strips of white paper along the stock's seam line.

Can't tell anything from the photo but cheap plastic is indeed cheap plastic. No functional issue. If you want a nice stock, go with wood. They offer lots of other stocks but I think you've got the bottom of the line there. Correct me if I'm wrong as I don't own a 597. But I've bought some cheap 700s with plastic stocks which I upgraded before ever firing the rifle.

I think that's referred to as "cast". Some people prefer it. Really depends on your biology. Try it before you knock it. May help in aligning the sights. May not. Not necessarily good or bad, very subjective.

That could be. However, the stock is actually a little set to the left or "cast on". When i shouldered the rifle i immediately noticed that i get a much tighter cheek weld than usual to get proper sight alignment. that's how i discovered this whole situation in the first place

                    It's a sub $200 .22 rifle. You're lucky it's not made of zinc.

                          DoctorLove,

Like the others said don't worry about a 22 rifle that's basically designed for a teen. In the basic form there not considered serious target rifles although I love the fact you have a heavy barrel.

When I had mine it didn't group worth beans but the action was stiff. After a good brick of ammo the trigger got lighter and lighter. Now it has a good reduced trigger so I decided to replace my stock and barrel for a much better version. Using the standard trigger mechanism I can group an easy 1/4" at 50 yards with mine.

In your case I'd shoot a good brick and see for yourself. Perhaps you can replace it with a good wood stock. It'll be worth it.
