    I need help deciding

So given the current state of our gun laws and how quickly certain pistols are disappearing off the registry and it seems like our AR's and AK's are still being target I can't decide what gun I want to get before I can't get it ever again. I have about $1000 give or take to spend on a gun this year. I can't decide between an AR pistol, AK, or another pistol. I have a build AR, a stripped lower, G17 gen4, Sig mk25, and some others but those won't get banned anytime soon (I hope).

So I guess what I can't decide is do I get an AR pistol (which I've been wanting for a while) or do I get a more concealable pistol for when I get my CCW. I'm pretty stuck. Let me know your thoughts.

Sig P556 is what I'd get. Better than an AR pistol.

id get a 80% lower for building into a pistol later on, then get a saiga or vepr if you can find one decently priced as those are the only ones(that i know of) being banned from import right now

then put a down payment with whats left on whatever SSE pistol your heart desires

      thats what id do atleast

I really like the stuff the century arms is putting out with the 100% USA Milled AKs, I know that they had some issues in the past but I think there new stuff is pretty up to snuff. I was thinking about getting 80% lowers but its like $400 for a lower and jig and even then I think I would kill the first one I tried. Do you know of a machine shop in Sac that lets you "rent" equipment for 80% lowers.

Those are pretty sweet, but I was hoping for interchangeability of parts as much as possible. Picking up a different gun pattern translates into needing different spare parts and such.

I'd be surprised to see a Sig P556 break, they're built well.

i'd get an AK and use any leftover money to buy an 80% AR lower that you can build up into a pistol or rifle later.

80% lowers are not $400. a fairly expensive lower with jig will run you about $225-$250. you can get polymer lowers for well under $100, jig included.

i've milled out four lowers. they're pretty easy to do if you just take your time.

My thoughts are to spend time enjoying the guns you now own . Can you reliably hit a deer sized target at 500 yards ?
Many clubs and sportsman groups are offering fantastic hunts for raffle prizes etc.

Further being a competent marksman is a skill that has traditionally been honored by Americans and the American govt . Having a nation of marksman was the exact reason congress created the " division of civilian marksman" program. To my knowledge this program was designed to help Americans buy military rifles that the Army has classified as obsolete .
Included are M1 Garand , carbines and other rifles.

The CMP is continuing a long history of service to the nation, supporting marksmanship training, administering the historic Excellence-in-Competition program, and sponsoring the National Trophy Matches.

The elite status of achieving Rifleman is still honored in the USMC and probably the US Army.

If this doesn't appeal to you, other options are donating to progun groups, electable republicans, or invest in reloading equipment.
I'm thinking that throwing money into firearms because they could get banned is
probably not the best use of resources .
                  My 2 cents .

I've never understood the place of the AR pistol. I guess its kinda cool, but when you think in terms of priority, I can't see spending the money on one. I would go for what you would carry CCW.

Off roster gun for sure. I don't get the ar pistol thing, just not my flavor.

                        I don't know your collection

I would get what you will use and fills a gap in your collection

The rifle caliber pistol would be fun if surplus ammo was $80-$90/ thousand again

I found AK pistols to be particularly fun, but I've come to the conclusion that the only SSE gun I want would be an MP5-K, or my old VZ-61 Skorpion ;((((((((

No shotguns? Time to shop for a 12 gauge and try some clay shooting (trap, skeet, sporting clays or 5 stand).

At the moment, it looks like AR's are relatively safe so I would scratch that off the list for now. Do note that I'm not up on the latest concerning AR pistols so if those are under eminent threat, then forget what I said.

AK's and SSE pistols seem to be the most at risk currently...all subject to change of course in this state. With limited funds, that is where I would focus my next purchase on.

Between an SSE pistol and the AK you may need to decide which is more important to you personally. Were it me, I would give priority to a defense gun over a "for fun" gun. If they're both for defense, you will need to choose.
