Are Calgunners applying for UT CCWS making a difference here?

I've already counted 5+ posts in the pistol section about numerous classes being offered. Many are signing up, which is a good thing.

Therefore, since more Calgunners will be obtaining them by the end of the year, are we making an impact on CA CCWs?

Or is it just a last resort for us to obtain any CCW, besides small county issuances?

[Brag on] By the way, I already have mine:

Since I travel to Nevada, Utah, Wyoming & Montana a lot, my Utah CCW is of actual use to me (in fact I'll be going to Utah again in October for a week. It's very comforting driving on Highway 50 through Nevada and being able to CCW). It would seem to me lots of people are getting them that will never actually use them, but that's their choice, it doesn't hurt me any.

I've got both. I'm not sure how we'd be making an impact on the CA situation. I do travel many places that are covered by the UT permit, so that's why I got mine.

I agree, a UT permit offers a lot of states and is useful for those that travel often. I've tried to convince a few friends to sign up for a UT permit, but outside of Calguns or the shooting community not many people know of out of state, non-resident UT and FL permits.

What do you mean by 'making a difference'? There's no reciprocity by CA, so UT or FL permits are really for us to exercise our regulated 'freedoms' when we're in other states.
I'm not seeing how how they're helping anything in CA, except by allowing folks who might otherwise leave the state to hang in there while legeslative and judicial gears grind along here.
I'd welcome any explanation of anything I might be missing re the situation.

Huh, I go to Utah, Washington, and Oregon ONCE a year for a Springer Spaniel Field Trial and I want to carry just in case the zombies attack! So I will be taking the next one whenever it is offered in Sacrament-HO.

And yes, I HAVE been drinking tonight!

                  You got me!

I have applied for Utah, Florida and am in the process of applying for Arizona.
The only one that will actually do me some good is AZ. I winter there.

I prefer to call the first two my "Flying Finger of Defiance" rather than "last resort" or "act of desperation".

Also, when California is forced either to become shall-issue or to treat the existing May-Issue rules more objectively, I think having the others will be helpful in obtaining one here. And I'm certain one or the other will happen within the next few years.

                  Just my 2 cents.

the way i see it is the more permits that are issued the better. it won't hurt the effort in CA if tens or hundreds of thousands of CA residents can carry in 30 other states but not in their own. Thats a powerful statement.

Neither the Utah or Florida permits allow you to carry in Oregon. Despite the fact that Oregon is a Shall Issue state, and that Utah honors Oregon's permits, Oregon doesn't have reciprocity.

My wife and I are going to get the Florida permits because we can do so immediately (Florida doesn't require you to take a specialized class other than a Hunter Safety or NRA Handgun class...heck, they even count involvement in IDPA/IPSC competitions as adequate). Florida is significantly more expensive than Utah, but not ridiculous. And now that my father has just moved there, I plan on visiting several times a year (Utah's permit doesn't provide authority to carry in Florida).

When is the next Florida CCW class in the Bay Area?

I wouldnt mind getting one for when I vacation there and also just in case SHTF due to the hurricanes.

                            Actually, UT does.

You don't need an actual CCW class for Florida. Here is what their "How to Apply" information says:
Their web page on CCWs can be found here:
