    CA Lead Ammo Ban

When Ca decided to ban hunting ammo which contains lead to protect XYZ. What about the ton's of lead from tire weights that come off wheels on our streets and highways and mix with rain water run off? Why were they not included in the ban?

What about the ton's of lead weighs used for fishing in the rivers, lakes & ocean? Why were these not banned?

This is a direct attack on hunters and their way of life.

Is there a chance to appeal this? Anything in the works?

hunting and fishing regulations are suppose to be science based, how could this of passed?

What about all the lead at shooting ranges? Clearly way more lead there than in hunting areas. Hmmm

Lead fishing weights are already banned in my area , Years ago they started using steel and zinc weights on tires ( try getting wheel weight lead for casting).

So how long have you been out of the loop ?

It's called "foot in the door", "one small step", "feeling the waters", or perhaps "slowly but surely." give it 5-10 years and they will ban lead ammo state wide for any reason.

They have already threatened to close outdoor shooting ranges because of lead contamination.

It's called "junk science" same way they used to close about 1/3 of the desert. Same way you need steel instead of lead for Ducks. I'm not saying there's no merit at all for it, I just don't believe the "science" that's involved, I KNOW BETTER! Same technique used to close lots of fishing areas that are loaded with fish. Until sportsman & outdoorsman FILL the halls of Fish & Wildlife, or state, or BLM meetings when this stuff goes on, it WILL continue, expect more, lots more. People are simply lazy & "talk" about the battle etc. I was heavily involved in "Pro desert access" mostly helping keep BLM land open. They tried to close the entire desert based on "junk science"

People make a GOOD living with State & Federal grants doing this kinda stuff. The local & state MLPA (Ocean) closures, tens of millions of dollars paid out for grants, if not a hundred million or more. Look into it, it gets pretty sick. Toughest thing to do is get people to fight, everyone wants to talk, sorry, but it's true.

Added. They're making money boning us, think Leland Yee type stuff.

And yet these same people claim the 2nd Amendment is about hunting.

As,far as I am concerned, the hunting community is reaping what it has sown when it threw the semi auto rifle (assault rifle) owners under the bus and gave all those anti gun democrats some "gun owner cover" as the hunting community publicly questioned the need for private ownership of black rifles...I REMEMBER!!!

All those liberals in Sacramento who publicly said the 2nd Amendment was for hunting back when the black rifles were in the gun grabbers sights have now turned on the hunting community. Hunters...."YOU GOT WHAT YOU DESERVED" and "We told ya so........"

                  Karma is a *****!

Lead wheel weights have been banned for years. We had to get rid of them out of our shop a long time ago.

We use steel stick on/or hammer on steel weights. We can get fined if caught using the old skool lead weights.

                        As it turns out...
The lead ammo ban WAS only in condor areas. Now I think it is statewide. Turns out people would shoot an animal with a lead bullet and the bullet would fragment into a thousand pieces and the hunters would cut off the parts that they want and leave the parts that had the wound channel in it for the rest of the animals to eat (or they would not get a clean shot and the animal would run off and die somewhere where they couldn't retrieve it). Since condors are basically big ***** vultures, they would eat EVERYTHING left of the carcass that the crows and coyotes didn't eat and they would get lead poisoning. You may not want to believe it, but a lot of research was done and its not "junk science."
If people would have just cleaned up after themselves we would not have this problem.
In the end, the copper bullets expend better than lead and don't fragment.
In some other states, hunters would donate meat from their hunts to homeless shelters and ~85% of the meat had to be thrown away because they would x-ray the meat and there would be a whole bunch of tiny little pieces of lead in the meat.
If you think lead "ain't that bad for you" just look at what happened to the Romans. I think it's nationwide that you have to use steel shot for water foul because they don't want the water to get contaminated with lead.

At least at the shooting ranges they go through a few times a year and "reclaim" the lead and other metals.

I thought it was BS too until I actually looked into it.

Can't find the original video that stated "~85%" but this article states 60%...

That is still pretty darn high. Some other states had lower numbers but they are still pretty high.

The whole thing is solely to stop Hunting in it's entirety, nothing more.
