    Need advice on pistol selection!!

So, i'm trying to decide on a pistol to have for the next decade or so.
I want one pistol to function as both a "combat" pistol and a CCW pistol. Willing to make compromises here.

If that would be impossible, or a better way to approach this is to have two guns I'd be willing to have one for CCW and one for combat.

So, my criteria for a "combat" gun is..
6+ round minimum. 14 round maximum (I do not like carrying empty magazine space.. it bugs me.)
    At least 9mm ballistics.
    Reliability , durability.

    Criteria for a CCW...
    IWB or pocket size
    Prefer higher round count
    Prefer higher firepower
Prefer low presure rounds, ie 9's and 45's over 40's 10mm's.

I've looked at shield 9's, sig p238, p938, glock 42, glock 26, but im willing to use whatever is best. Willing to xfer off roster weapons. I perfer a gun with ten rounds stock or with extended mags. Reliability, comfort and durability are most important.

    Check out a CZ P01
It passes most of your criteria, and all of NATO's

Combat for me is 1911 in .45 and Beretta M9 or P226 in 9mm.

Carry for me would probably be a P229 but I'm a big guy so I can get away with it.

Glock 30sf or gen 4 would fit your criteria. It can be converted to several other calibers if you want some more versatility. It can use mags from the Glock 21 so, in a free state, you can have up to 14 rounds on tap. Not too big to conceal and not too small to shoot comfortably.

FYI- None of the choices you listed are pocketable. I'm not saying they won't fit in a pocket... just that they'll all print badly in a pocket.

I personally prefer the two pistol solution so that I can avoid compromises, however there are a few good one pistol options that deserve looking at if you can live with IWB, none are pocketable.

                    Rostered:
                    • 1911 Commander - accurate, concealable - especially in bobtail form, and packing 8rds of 45acp. I'd go with an alloy frame version.
                    • 1911 CCO - a 4" slide and barrel on a small officer's sized frame and 7rds of 45acp.
                    • Glock 19 or 23 - mid-sized Glock in 9 or 40.
                    • Sig 2022 - the affordable Glock 19 sized Sig.

I suspect he's referring to self-defense and target shooting at longer ranges than practical for most shooters using a .38 snubbie or a 2-3" barrel pocket pistol. The pistol may be accurate at 100yds but the sights and/or sight radius can be a bit challenging for most.

You listed a preference for 45 over 40. Perhaps one of these?
