You will have lots of fun associating with free men and women in this uniquely American event .

Enjoy looking at all the guns, gun parts, accessories, books, jewelry and lots of other items all under one roof.
Its advisable to see one of the beautiful young lady's who do admin and obtain a written receipt, as some ranges discount memberships for those who attend gun shows. Ask for Celeste she used to do them.

Unfortunately the worlds best gun show that featured 6 miles of tables, many police agency's , lots of military vehicles, great live music by many groups like the drifters, fun costumes of old west hero's like the " Lone Ranger" , lots of gals in period costume from 1800 s and earlier . This show was at the LA fairgrounds in Pomona. It brought in, iirc 14 million a year for LA county.

This wonderful fun, family event was shut down by one man, LA supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky . As a side note Yaroslavsky has endorsed a candidate for LA sheriff . Calgunners would be advised to find out who he endorsed and vote accordingly ..

Gun shows can be fun, but it's not a place to buy a gun, at least in California. Prices are always too high, selection is rather low, especially hand guns.

If you want Chi-com AR parts, it's the place to be.

I went to my first gun show last year. It was a small mad house. It was fun to wander and look, but in the end I went to the LGS to spend my allowance.

I won't be going to another show any time soon, but I'm glad I went. :-)

Question, can I do the DROS at the gunshow and have the gun shipped to an FFL or will I have to wait for the gun to get there and then do the DROS at the FFL?

IIRC the dros begins at the gun show itself .
I should be surprised by the number if Calgunners who find it necessary to bash gunshows . Actually I am surprised and shocked by some comments in this thread.

Hey guys big news flash here, eliminating gunshows and their attendees is number 1 on the antigunners wish list .

^^^ Not always. FUD. Buy the gun have shipped to ffl then go do the dros. If you do dros at show you must go to that ffl to pickup. There are usually ffl's at show that take transfer from seller there or do ftf ppt and start dros.

The DROS starts when the dealer doing the transfer inputs the data into the system. That may or may not be at the show.

socomseal111, go to the show and have fun! Keep an open mind, but bring along a smart phone with internet access to make sure you know if the deal you're looking at is a good one. Knowledge is a powerful tool, and ignorance can be expensive! I've gotten great deals at the shows, and don't be afraid to look under the tables (if exposed) for open boxes where the sellers usually put their "crap that they just want to get rid of". You can often find great buys there as well.

The reason you'll see so many negative comments is that many of us remember the heyday of gun shows. This was generally before the internet, and when there were a LOT more dealers out there. Prices were extremely competitive, and laws weren't nearly as onerous. Unfortunately, it's not 1996 anymore, and we don't have all the surplus coming in from overseas as well to help lower prices either. That said, bargains are still out there. I picked up a hardly used Gen 3 Glock 19 with night sights at a show about a year and a half ago for $400. It's fun to look and who knows? You might get a great deal!

Some times we are our own worst enemy, just because they are on Calguns does not mean squat, you should know that by seeing some of the stuff posted on here. Some people just never get it.

Like JA 308 said above , The Great Western show also bought in money for the local economy , Markets and Food venders and motels and camping . I would go Friday Sat, and Sunday . It is missed .

Avoid the shows put on by the Lewis & Clark Traders and you'll be fine.

I went to my first show 2 weeks ago here in Tennessee. I bought my son a ruger mark 3 22/45 target pistol.Love it, and plan in going to another on August 9th and 10th

Make sure you don't wash for a few days. Don't shave or brush your teef either! Wear your dirtiest car repair jeans & a sling shot. Use no pit-stick, you'll fit right in. Enjoy the coveralls & huge bellies, it's an American tradition. If you buy a gun, you'll need to proceed through a proper FFL. Likely you'll pay on the spot & they will ship it overnight. Pray that UPS doesn't steal it!
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!
