        The Canadian equivalent to the Bill of Rights is the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.



        It lists all the rights of Canadian citizens and legal residents. If you skim through it, you'll recognize certain sections. There is nothing like the 2nd Amendment in it.

        The best part? The end, and a little part known as section 33. This allows the gov't to violate one's rights as long as they tack a phrase onto the end of the law: "notwithstanding the charter".

        Everyone in Canada has the right to freedom of religion, unless the gov't passes a law that explicitly says the charter doesn't apply in this instance.

        Everyone in Canada has the right to be secure against unreasonable search and seizure, unless the gov't says that the charter doesn't apply.

        And so on.

        Ugh.
