A little late. Bang you're dead. Tell me how you're going to fire back again?

In an obvious robbery scenario, present a weapon in my direction, and you'll get pre-emptively fired upon by me if the opportunity presents itself, and no safe retreat is possible. All the justification I need. I won't be protecting the money. I'll be protecting my life.

I used to work at a sports store... we will call it "Sports Expert"

I would often carry the tills to the back during change shifts and such. I also always had to be escorted by a manager. There was this one guy who the very first time he escorted me was all, "Okay man, just in case something bad happens heres my plan... I will try and distract the robbers, and you run for the back with the tills..."
I replied, "yeah.... or how about this plan... I throw the tills as hard as I can at the bad guy and we run in the opposite direction???"

Pretty sure this guy came from a Rapid Tactical Response Team from one of the largest multi-retail establishments in America....

a long long time ago in a state far away... I worked for the most famous armored car company in the nation.

I have lots of great stories from those days but let me give you a few tips.
back then we had to take over two hour psych eval test.. questions were asked repetitively but in different ways to try and trick you, questions were like if you were a detective in a store and you caught your mother stealing items in that store would you do ?ABCDE multiple choice and if the reasons she was stealing were ABCD or E then what would you do? they not just looking for honesty but I think also loyalty and a hard worker who actually cares about doing the right thing even without a supervisor around. (I passed when three of my friends didn't .very strange but still very funny.)
I'm not sure if they still give that test or if is legal to do so anymore.

that's company's policy was GENERALLY (if things get violent or someone acting too crazy during the robbery, all bets were off. this was the policy back then.who Knows what it is today) to give up the money... they have insurance for most types of incidents.
and if anyone bystander, you or the criminal gets hurt the insurance might have to pay even more.
as mentioned above a lot of the time those robberies are inside jobs.
a quick story about that a guy took an armored truck when he shouldn't have, with money in the back & disappeared for a while when he was caught...he said the "mob" took half the money but he would turn in the other half for a reduced sentence...
of course the insurance company wants whatever money they can get back so ... He served 10 years but if he hadn't given the money to the mob he had nice nest egg when he got out. (I actually forget how much $ and am not even sure that it was 10 years.) our criminal justice system gives long stretches the people who rob banks and armored cars. the moral is don't mess with THE man's money
I ask you would you go in prison for 10 years if you could retire the rest of your life??? and lets say you get away with a couple million dollars you're never going to be able to speak to any of your friends or family mom dad again from your hiding place in a third world country.
be prepared and be willing to work overtime, because of the laws around the movement of money, it HAS to keep moving to keep society working....they can ask you to work overtime and they can fire you if you say no,
          unlike most jobs.

on the walls inside our building there were old pump shotguns just hanging on the walls in racks of 6 ...like you might see fire extinguishers at a normal business. I want to they were made by savage because I believe I remember a Indian Head logo on them.

there were old of 38 special Smith and Wesson's (really old models probably around the time of the victory models of ww2, but I'm not exactly sure what model number.)behind glass cases as well but not so many of those cases as they were shot gun racks.

let me know if you guys want to hear more of these adventures.

            Plan B

When robbers show up I give you the money drawer so you can run away with the bills and distract them.

I think most of the courier/Brinks drivers are ambushed. With that much money to be had, the crooks will plan. 20 or so years ago it happened near my house. The delivery guy going into the bank never saw it coming. Around here when I see a money delivery, it's with gun in hand.

The difference? Higher pay is usually an indication you will be working in more dangerous neighborhoods and let's your family acquire a better casket.

You just pick the company you want to work for and apply online for the branch in your area. If they need somone you might get a call.

Quiet summed it up pretty well. The guns are for personal protection, nothing more. It's not a glorious job, but it's a job and it pays the bills.

Sealocan: I think I know who you worked for. I remember those questions very well.

Slightly off-topic: when I was younger (way younger, okay?), I heard that (don't laugh) there was a courier (cash bag guy), driver, and then a third guy hidden in the back of the truck who had an automatic weapon. Is this true?

                        No on the MG.
                        Everything else jives.

It's either a two man crew (driver, courier) or three man crew (driver, courier, storage), depending on the type of armored vehicle.

I know someone who works for armor truck company in Los Angeles. He makes it sound horrific. They have attempted robberies monthly, primarily in Central LA.
