    Legal Question

Well, I'm still kinda new here and didn't really know where to post this question. But, here it is:

In August I purchased a shotgun from a Big 5, now they're asking me to bring back the gun and re-dros it. Apparently, they released it to me early (listed my pick-up day as only a 9-day waiting period). I didn't even notice. So, am I legally bound or responsible in any way to return the gun and wait an additional 10 days?

Make them make it worth your while. They need you to come in so they can cover their butts. Tell them you're going to need compensation for going back....this has happened before and some made out pretty well...try to get gift cards or ammo.

I dont think theres any law you would be braking telling them to shove off but like slayer said you might be able to get some ammo or gift certs if there desperate

I believe you are not under any obligation to return the gun.

They on the other hand are probably scrambling to cover their butts.

If they don't get their paperwork right the DOJ can pull their license.

If you feel like taking it back to be a nice guy... well then be a nice guy.

Having worked at a big 5 myself in the past I'd have them make it worth my while.. (like a free shotgun or a case of ammo) don't deal with anyone but the store manager or the corporate guy who is in charge of them.

Re-DROS it? I don't think so...When you go back don't bring the shotgun with you
Talk the store manager or higher.

You: What will you offer for me to bring the shotgun back in?...

              Opens up real negotiations then...

Well, you could just man-up and do the right thing. Some poor kid will probably loose his job over this and I very much doubt you are as pure as the driven snow in this. I would damn sure know if I was picking up a gun a day early.

If they Re-DROS it does that mean that you have to go through another 10 day (probably 11 day) wait?

Not even close, I'm retired former Army EOD.

I just subscribe to the notion that a "man" does the right thing without being paid for it.

For the record, I don't work for Big 5, I'm in IT

That being said, I don't see how profiting from a bad situation could be the right thing to do. The opposite doesn't sound too bad.

I'm not normally one to advocate profiting from this kind of situation, but big 5 has a special place in my heart.

I could rail about big 5 all day (how we 'part time seasonal' employees who worked all year would never be allowed to work over 39 hours per week), how management would hire 5 guys to work 4 hours per week even though everyone needed more work.

How you had to work nights at a second job because management wanted you to be available if they needed extra help on short notice, and having regularly scheduled daytime hours would conflict with that.

anyway, normally I wouldn't be advocating profiting from this,

But like I said, big 5 has a special place in my heart.

Another reason for just cooperating with Big 5 is to make it easier for them to continue selling guns...

Besides, there is nothing wrong with helping out someone that made an honest mistake is there?

Re-Dros it. Unless you would like the ATF coming to you door.

same thing happened to a guy at Reeds. Except he had changed his number and they couldn't contact him to ask for a Re-DROS. He said the ATF treated him like a criminal, The whole process after that took much logger then 10 days.

There is a slight difference here though. You have a shotgun, he had a handgun.
