Gun Log App. Am I Paranoid?

So I downloaded GUN LOG APP and I really like it. It makes it easy to keep inventory of all ammo, range sessions, failures by ammo and firearm, etc., FIREARMS.

So far I have put in all my ammo, and few bolt action rifles, couple of pistols (including pix). I really want to put everything in, but I'm paranoid that all that info can leak to unwanted individuals as well as .gov Especially, if I back it all up on my laptop and all that info can be sent to the cloud. So am I being too paranoid and can take off the tin foil hat, or put very little information in the app?

Pic are from itunes for reference from link above, not my firearms/ammo

I wouldn't. That is just me. I keep my stuff on old paper and pencil. Again that is just me. I need to track ammo though, I just buy off of memory!! Then I realize I have "too much".

Sooner or later that will be the next step toward the complete gun law "Israelization" of California.

In Israel, people have to log rounds/ammo to the unit.

Keep your info on a thumb drive and not on your hard drive or cloud.

Get a cheap laptop without an Internet connection/wifi/Bluetooth. No connection to any cloud or outside storage service. Use that to keep track of your stuff. Won't fall into the wrong hands or be snooped on by No Such Agency/alphabet .gov...unless it get stolen.

But, keep in mind, if you have legally purchased guns in this century, the overlords already know. It might take them a while to get the info, but if you become suspect, they will get it. And if you buy ammo online, it's already been put into the "system".

I would worry with that being an Apple app. They snoop apps like crazy and work with the government. The only way I would use that is if I had an old iPhone or iPod touch that I would disable the radios on.

I have an encrypted file on a real small USB drive I keep on a dog tag chain with all my firearms info.

This. I do a "check out" from my stash to my range bag.

                      You mean like this?

I'll keep track of mine the old fashion way; by memory!
(If it's in my head then the gov't can't track it - right???)

I wouldn't. It has nothing to do with foil hats, but with the app developers ability to keep your data safe. If you must keep a list, put it in a password protected file on a flash drive, print out a hard copy and store them separately.

At this point, I think it's safe to assume that the government has a fairly comprehensive data record that would strongly indicate who owns firearms in American society. Between social media, discussion forums, credit card receipts, email, paypal, cell phone metadata, calls or letters made to lawmakers concerning firearm bills, etc.

What they can do with that information is another matter entirely. Most likely it simply means that if you ever get a warrant for your arrest, it won't be a couple of uniformed officers knocking politely on your door at 2pm asking you to come downtown with them.

They already know, or at least already have the means to find out.

Your phone has a GPS. It knows where you live, and it knows when you aren't home. That means the apps on your phone also know these things. Now you are proposing to willingly tell one of these apps, made by unknown authors with unknown motives, exactly which firearms and ammo you own, and you have absolutely no way to verify what the app or it's designers will do with this info. Probably nothing, but I am going to stick with a regular spreadsheet.

I am curious, do you remember the permissions you agreed to let the app have when you installed it?
Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms should be a store not a government agency.
