    Very unhappy with Kel-Tec

After ordering it, I waited patiently for approximately 1 year for my KSG to arrive. It arrived and I did not have a chance to take it out and shoot it till about 8 months later. I bought serveral types of ammo to try out. All my buddies commented on how cool it looked and also wanted to buy one. I loaded it and chambered a round. I pressed the trigger but nothing happened? I ejected that round and tried another still nothing, just a sound of a ping from the trigger releasing. I tried several other types of ammo but nothing? I took it apart and it appeared the hammer was not releasing to strike the primer. So evidently the gun would not fire. I had several of my buddies that are very experienced in firearms look at it but they could not figure it out either!

I contacted Kel-Tec who instructed me to ship it to them to be evaluated. I included all paperwork requested including the copy of shipping receipt wich was 54.00. I also included a letter adressing how unhappy I was about this situation. They sent me a lemon shotgun that had not ever been test fired! They told me I would be compensated for my shipping costs (which never happened). I was never contacted by them to let me know what the problem was no call or even an explanation letter. I received my KSG about 4 to 6 weeks later with a form attached saying they replaced my lower. I still have not had a chance to take it out and see if it fires!

I own several of their weapons and up to this point have been very happy with this company. All weapons purchased are supposed to be safety checked and test fired before being sold (evidently this one was not). I was sold a KSG that did not fire and wasn't even compensated for my shipping costs.

This will be probably be the last purchase I make from this company if thats how they treat their customers. After my buddies heard about this they also said they woud not purchase anything from this company either!

They designed inovative products but are in to big of a rush to send them out before they are ready!!!!

I also plan on sending a copy of my complaint letter (the one the repair guys removed) and sending it to corporate division to adivse them of this.

Anyone who buys KT (except for maybe their Pistols) should be on notice, at this point, to stay away for several years from anything new they are putting on the market.

They have had similar issues with the SU, the RFB and now the KSG in terms of production numbers or quality control issues.

Ive always heard mixed things about Kel-Tec.

The general consensus I heard was that they have a 50/50 split on how they make their products, 50% are poorly made but really cheap, and 50% are poorly made, way overpriced gimmicks. The KSG is of the latter

Ive never owned a Kel-Tec product myself, this is all second hand info

Their customer service sucks. Bought one of their stock extensions for a Sub2000. The spring clip broke as it was clipped on during install. Customer service wanted me to spend $10 to $14 on shipping to send back a $12 part so they could check it out.

That's monstrously unfortunate. The KSG appears to have lots of QC issues. Some people get one that works flawlessly, even if somewhat stiff, others seem to get total lemons.

Doesn't help that they're also hideously expensive

No matter the purchase, returning something after 8 months seems risky.
After knowing you had a problem the first time, you seem to be doing it again. Go try it out and see if they fixed the problem for you.

When anyplace runs 24/7, the quality seems to drop....

Stuff happens, they seem to have gotten it fixed....

but the U tube reviews on the KSG seems to show breakage being common in the pump with realistic use....

I don't think that's really fair. They have had vaporware issues with the RFB and KSG. I think that's why people are so pissed after waiting so long that they are now running into KT's more typical QC issues that they seem to have for the first couple of years they put out a new product.

The one thing I will say about KT from what I have seen, is they will stand by their product and their customer service is good. They will eventually make things right, if you unfortunately ended up with a product that was not 100% out of the box.

Having seen people go through it with the SU (which I like), I would not recommend anyone buying anything new from KT. Better to wait and let them work out the issues for the first couple of years. Then get the thing if you still want it.

                  Just my 2 cents.

This is why I chuckle about people paying $1200+ for a $600 shotgun that's made by a second-tier gun manufacturer. Sweet looking gun. Unfortunate that it's a Kel-Tec.

So you had a problem with your KSG, sent it back, they got it back to you in 4 to 6 weeks (which was it, BTW? 4,5 or 6 weeks?), you own several of their weapons and have been happy, and you're not going to buy anything more from them why, again?

Because they made a mistake and made it right?

You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.

Most if not all of these ''tactical bullpup switcheroo shotguns'' on the market are complete crap.

The KSG is near the top tier of the crap pile, where as the UTS-15 is the bottom of the crap pile.

If I want something dumb and unwieldy Ill buy an SRM 1216.
