I was going by what two different gun stores told me. Yes, I know that not all gun store employees know what they are talking about, but the first responder store employee checked the list while I was on the phone with him. Until reading the link above and the link in that thread to S&W's statements, I didn't know they would be renewing it.

That said, the first responder store advised me the chances of getting a Ca. version was nil and I had already put a deposit down to buy the gun.

As far as holsters, thanks to those who suggested certain brands. I have a new Uncle Mike's in the pocket holster that I have had for awhile and it works great in my pocket. I also have had the Crossbreed IWB Ultra Tuck I use for my XD and it will work on the Shield too, so I'm set on holsters for now.

The only thing I would like now would be for Tru Glo to make some Tru Glo TFO sights for the gun, but they don't. I have used them on my XD for 10yrs. and they work great for my old eyes. The Shield thankfully at least has the white dot, which is better than just black sights. My days of 20/5 vision are long gone. If anyone knows of a company that makes FO/Tritium sights for the Shield, I'd appreciate knowing about it. Thanks.

ETA: Well, it seems I'm wrong again. The Tru Glo company does in fact now make Tru Glo TFO sights for the Shield. FO/Tritium. I was advised in a call to them last year they didn't know if/when they would. They now do, so I just need to start checking the stores for availability and price.
