I have a old 12ga double barrel shotgun that I personally have over 15,000 rounds through(no idea about the previous owners), hasn't needed anything except basic cleaning.

GP100, I'm over 5000 and nothing but cleaning.

10/22 no freaking idea how many rounds, but only replacements have been because I wanted to, not because something broke

With the high price of ammo, it will take a lifetime or more for me.

Okay sweet, just wanted to make sure because I usually don't see people mentioning they have more than 1000 rounds through the barrel and I was thinking that I did that over the last 6 months =X

17K rounds through my CZ 75B. Only replaced the springs at around 15K. Still runs like a champ.

I wasn't saying they will only last 10k, I was pointing out you might need to replace a trigger spring.. at that point. Something trivial.

And then proceed to bump it for like 4 months until nobody buys it.

As for the original question I don't see what else you can do preemptively before your gun breaks? Maybe if the manual suggests you replace certain parts after a certain number of rounds, otherwise just keep shooting and cleaning it.

I have a Kimber custom TLE II with over 11,000 rounds through it. I replaced the recoil spring about 1000 rounds ago because it was cheap and I felt like it. That gun has never malfunctioned on me.

I also have a Glock 23c that was a retired range rental when I bought it. I've put probably 8,000 rounds through it myself. Who knows how many hundreds of thousands went through it before I got it. The rifling in the barrel is barely visible at this point but it still shoots straight. I haven't replaced anything on this one and it just keeps on running.

The key is maintainance. If you keep them clean and lubed pretty much any gun with outlast you.

One of my Glocks (G22) has about 16k rounds thru it, mix of .40 & .357sig... changed out the original OEM guide rod/spring around 10k rounds (brass ejecting into low orbit) , just general cleaning every 500 rounds or so, detail clean few times a year...

Aside from some holster wear, it could probably pass off as less than 2k rounds to someone who didnt know any better.

Depending on the ammo, you should replace the recoil spring every 3k and even sooner if it's a commander or officer sized 1911. It might not malfunction but you will reduce its service life by waiting 10k. Like you said, they are cheap, so make sure you replace them often along with the firing pin spring.

Depends on gun there is guns that were designed to not take high round counts the Sigma 380 comes to mind. I actually own dozens of guns I've fired 200 or less rounds out of call me a liar if it makes you feel better for some reason.

Between 2k-5k rounds for a recoil springs, depending on caliber and size, Glock 27 on the short end, full size 1911 shooting soft rounds on the other.

All other action springs at 10k.

All non action springs (mag release, SIG de-cocking spring, etc) when necessary. Just keep the spares around, it sucks to have to wait a few weeks for replacements.
