I have used Excel spreadsheet from the get-go and update it everytime I use some or buy some. It helps me plan future purchases or how much to sell if I need funds.

No. I seriously doubt a conservative guestimate would be within 5k rounds of what I have. Maybe not even 10k, I dunno, don't count it. I shoot a lot but I like to reload too so always am cranking out more than I shoot.

Why would I spend 2 weekends counting it like the OP did when I can go shoot 500-1000 and still make 2k over the weekend. PITA, when just a quick glance tells me roughly how many years I can go.

I think I have

-55 rounds of .22lr saved from before the panic
-130 rounds 5.56 in various brands, mostly 55 grain
-17 rounds of 12 GA, 13 buckshot, 4 birdshot.

This thread sucks. I expected it to:

A) Tell us how many rounds he has compared to us and we get mad and turn this into OT
B) Tell us how much he has which compared to us isn't jack and we all laugh that it took him that long to count it

I realized a while back that I had no real idea what I had or how much.

So over several weekends (a few hours here and there) I counted ALL of my ammo! It was a much bigger project than I imaged, being that said - I'm glad I did it (probably won't do it again - at least on that scale).

One thing it did show me I have a crap load of ammo (yes that's a actual measurement!) in some calibers, not so much in others.

I did it on a excel spreadsheet, so I could add up the amounts easier.

BTW - Counting loose ammo sucks!

I keep my counts and types on 3x5 cards taped to mil surplus ammo cans that I keep them in. I don't have a total of all of it, but all I'd have to do is total up the 3x5 cards (ignoring ammo in magazines). It's a lot nicer to just have it labelled on the outside so you don't have to go searching through all of it to find what you need.

I know this because last time I bought ammo was back in Nov. last year and I still have not gone to shoot...
