Thanks Sawku. I've only been to the indoor ranges in San Berdo and Riverside with the pistols. I'm picking up a Remy 597 at Bass Pro this morning and thought that since I was out that way my daughter and I could break it in at Lytle Creek.

Do you need to bring targets and stands to Lytle Creek, or do they have them there?
You should bring your own stand and target. The ones they sell or provide are flimsy. The cardboard is stapled on with short staples so they don't stick out the back of the thin sticks used for uprights. The ground is really just one big rock. They have steel spikes to drive into the ground first then pound the stick into the hole made by the spike there are hammers and staplers. Wind will still blow that over. Bring a crude stand.
The shortest distance is 25 yards rimfire and pistols. Centerfire rifles min is 50 yards, I have not seen this enforced every day. No ground targets before 50 yards. No veggies with seeds. No glass. They have gongs at 100 yards. They have a gong at 200 yards on range B but it is not used during severe fire season. Don't depend on the 200 yard range. I bring a extra light weight stand and target backer to use as a hot case stopper. Just put it up to my left next to me.

Do the range officers at Lytle Creek still dress in tactical black and wear side arms ?
No holstered open firearms, not today. They could have something concealed. They are as good of a crew as has been there for years not perfect but generally good. As always your safety depends on you. Some are not the most watchful crew but I don't feel unsafe or I would leave. They are helpful maybe a little to much sometimes. I go during the week and go most every week.
On a general note the price has gone up recently. If you go often get a waiver card so you don't have to fill out the paperwork and you get a $1 discount. They have ammo the supply looks ok. I don't know about prices. They have some target supplies like Shoot N See and other common paper targets.
If you go on Wed or Thurs I am the old Ahole with a goate and Contender.
      See you there!
